Overcoming our fear of evangeliam
I recently finished this powerful book! When I started the book I commented that it was a typical Ray Comfort book. Now that I have finished it, I still think the same, but with clarification. It is typical in that he shares stories of his interviews with people (which I love!). But it is so much more than that! His book is so challenging! He challenges us to meet people where they are and where we are (example, grocery store). We need to have Gospel tracts in our hands, not in our purse or pocket! We need to be ready to give a reason for the hope that is in us and we need to be ready AT ALL TIMES!!! I have been so convicted in reading this book! And then the fact that he extensively quoted Spurgeon could only add to his book!!! He even quoted John MacArthur! Two of my favorite preachers. He also quoted a lot from John Wesley. I haven't read much that he wrote, but he is now on my "to read" list! In this book, as indicated in the subtitle, Ray Comfort is giving us ten clear ways to overcome our fear of evangelism. He covers these ten ways in by giving a chapter to each one. In brief, he challenges us to be loving, obedient, decisive, defiant, focused, prepared, truthful, practiced, faithful and prayerful. In chapter 8, Practiced: What are You Preaching, Mr. Comfort challenges us to know the gospel. "The gospel is a simple message. We have broken the commandments, are guilty before the holy God, and are heading for hell. But because God is rich in mercy, He provided a Savior. He commands all people everywhere to repent--because He has appointed a day in which He will judge the world." Then he asks the question, "Is that so hard to say?" We need to be warning people of the coming judgment in the same way we would warn someone if we knew their house was on fire. In chapter 10, Prayerful, I was very surprised as Mr. Comfort explained that we don't go to hell because of unbelief. This just didn't make sense to me! But in John 8:24 Jesus says, "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." The author explains "Judgment will come because sinners die in their sins." He further says, "If they then fail to believe in Jesus and die in their sins, they will be judged for their sins--not for their unbelief. The terrible consequences of dying without the Savior will be the wrath of the law." If you are a Christian concerned about obeying the command of Matthew 28:19-20 to make disciples but are fearful, this is the book to challenge you to get with the program! There is no better way to show Christ's love to a lost and dying world than to share the gospel with them! I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A Christian Witnessing Handbook
If you are someone that has wanted to share your faith in Christ but you've never been sure of how to go about it then this book is for you. I've followed Ray Comfort and his ministry "Living Waters" for years and have watched hundreds of hours of his videos and sermons so the "formula" is one that I know about and have used in the past. This book is for those who WANT to witness to friends, neighbors, strangers anyone but don't really understand what it means to do so. Ray walks you through the process, which is very simple to learn, and also gives you step-by-step instructions on what to do as the encounter unfolds. Using actual examples of witnessing encounters and his ever-present humor, he demonstrates that while witnessing can be a stressful event, it's not something we should fear. We should however, recognize that this is first and foremost warfare and there are enemies out there that we must do battle with. In fact, Ray admits that even after all of these years of doing this, he still feels fear every time he approaches someone but he has learned how to engage in battle regardless. However, Ray also helps us to realize what is at stake here: souls. Millions of people on this planet die every day and the reality is MOST of them will go to hell. As Jesus said, the harvest is indeed plentiful but the workers are few. WE MUST STEP UP! Ray explains what a true and what a false conversion is and how dangerous it can be for someone who THINKS they are saved but is not. More and more, in this day and age, we are seeing that exact thing happen in the church. The last thing that Jesus said before He left this planet was "go into all the world and preach the good news (The Gospel) to everyone." That was not a suggestion, it was and is a command. The early church knew exactly what He meant and they immediately turned their attention to do exactly that. Now more than ever, the followers of Christ need to be busy gathering souls and preaching the good news! We all recognize that time is running out and we are closer to His coming now than we were yesterday. Jesus has paid a high price for us to be forgiven and reconciled to God. Many don't know that our debt has been paid and that we can be forgiven. As the Apostle Paul said: "how will they know unless someone tells them?" We need to tell them. We need to be heartbroken for the lost and we need to "pull them out of the fire." This is serious business and needs to be approached as such. I've heard the excuses and Ray mentions many that he's heard as well in this book. However, the title says is all. We need to stop making excuses and learn how to do this. THEN, WE NEED TO GO DO IT! Ray will show you that there is more than one way to go about this and using your own creativity, you can use this formula with great success. This should be required reading for everyone in the church. This is how we advance His kingdom. This is how we win souls. This is how we take back ground that has been seized by the enemy. This is how we announce to the world, the Good News!

It's really important to understand, that each of us may play an important role in spreading the good news. We are saved by the One who paid the fine for our sins and this should meke us immensely grateful.
