Blue Guide Greece The Mainland (Blue Guides)

Perfect for the history oriented traveler in Greece
I have gone to Greece many times and bought many guides but this is undoubtedly the best for the historical and archeological sites, with details on what (and why) to see in each museum and orient yourself in each temple or ancient site, and divided in easy areas such as attica or corinthia to focus on one area at the time and all its reach stories. Of course because they have not revised the text since 2011, some restaurants or hotels or opening times may be a bit off, but use this book for the timeless historical advice and chose the sites you want to visit, understanding them ahead and during your visit, and you can use recent editions of lonely planet, bradt, marco polo, moon, rough guide, rick steves, DK eyewittness, etc for up to date advice on restaurants, hotels, and non historical activities and tours. However, none of those, except perhaps Bradt, will come even close to make enjoy with understanding all the historical sites, palaces and museums as this one. Perfect. Kudos to the authors which include the thoroughly hands on knowledgeable professor Nigel McGilchrist.
