2016 Good Sam RV Travel & Savings Guide (Good Sams RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory) Paperback – December 7, 2015

We were quite surprised how quickly the guide arrived, given its considerable size (A4) and weight (about 0.75 Kg). The guide itself is extensive, and covers every State in the USA. It has full listings for almost every National Park and Privately Owner camp ground, but sometimes the details are sketchy. Think of it like a UK Yellow Pages....if advertisers pay enough money, they get massive adverts about their camp ground, but that often prevents you from easily seeing the other listings. The rating system is not obvious, but once you have read the 'key' and worked out what each number means, it does then provide a measure of what each camp site has to offer. About one third of the guide is adverts, so that is a shame as transport costs to the UK would have been greatly reduced if the guide was smaller and lighter without them.Overall we didn't use the private camp grounds as the information was not set out logically - i.e suggested 'routes' to follow with appropriate camp sites suggested at intervals along the way. Maps are inserted but they are not really suitable for navigation, and the book would be too big to wield anyway. We book 95% of our sites through the KOA (Kampgrounds Of America) site! By the time you have bought a Good Sam loyalty card, the savings weren't even that good at the camp sites!!

This huge book has lots of information on campgrounds just about anywhere you might want to visit including addresses, phone numbers and directions. It gives a quick overview of amenities as well as suggestions as to potential sites to visit in the area. Valuable resource. I was sad to see the $1500 in coupons for Camping World that I was looking forward to receiving (because they said they included one we needed for a cover for our 5th wheel) had one that expired the end of September and we bought our directory in October when we bought our trailer.

Very helpful and definitely worth the price. Lots of info on many RV parks. Rating system is useful and seems accurate (we're new to RVing and we're still learning). This is an excellent supplement to finding a good park after learning about the destination and how close/far activities, restaurants, etc, are located. The book is the size of a very large phone book printed on phone-book type paper, just like the "old days". There is a lot of good info in the front of the book that is useful for new RVers, probably too basic for experienced folks.

Just first impression: Holy crap this book is huge....like 4 inches thick....the size of a big city phone book. I was hoping for something a little more travel friendly. Great for planning trips at home but just know this is pretty big to carry all the time while traveling. Comic book type paper inside. Seems to be very detailed in the information provided.

We bought it for a camping trip to Myrtle Beach and the Blue Ridge Mountains, and ended up not using it at all. If you have a smartphone, I would recommend getting RV Parky or other camping/travel apps. The only reason I can see that the book would be better is if there was no cell phone service at all, or if you don't have a smartphone. Duh.

This is a comprehensive trip planning tool. It fit my needs perfectly. I am new to camping and needed a guide to help me make reservations for a cross country trip. It is thick and heavy, not a book to stick in your back pocket. If you need a directory of campgrounds in the USA with descriptions, ratings and reviews, this is a very helpful book.

We are new motorhome buyers and felt completely at sea with all of the possibilities, planning, accessing resources. Even with the Internet - too much information is about as much help as too little information. It's so much easier to flip to a page with a city on it and see all of the campgrounds nearby. We've used the guide to plan our first roadtrip: from Northern Canada to Disneyworld and back!

Very thorough listings. My only negative comment is that legend for abbreviations and how to interpret the listings should be easier to find and displayed with an example.

Äußerst gunstiger Campground-Guide, der als Ersatz für meine inzwischen 7 Jahre alte, nicht mehr ganz aktuelle und etwas zerfledderte frühere Ausgabe gekauft wurde.Heißt jetzt Good Sam, früher Rand McNally. Unverzichtbar für die Planung und die Reise per RV oder Zelt durch USA. Genaue Wegeangaben lassen den Platz auch ohne Navi leicht finden.
