This gray plaster block contains 15 gemstones. It includes a wooden mallet, chisel and brush. This is messy, so place it in a tray or dig outdoors. When moistened the plaster is easier to dig into. My children enjoyed excavating the stone shaped block to get the stones out. Some of the stones were on the smaller side, but all were nice quality for the price.

Lots of fun for kids. Entertained my niece for several hours. You do need a sheet pan or something under it so that they don't damage the work surface, and also to catch the dust like dirt that comes off of it.The little hammer wasnt super great but it did make the task take longer which is what we were all hoping for when we bought this to entertain our children.If you are an adult who bought this for themselves, it is also great fun and very mindless. Like a coloring book, but better.

As a curious kid who’s into pirates & buried treasure, my nephew loved digging throw this to find gems. This set is everything you would expect it to be.

Bought for birthday gift for my 12 year old son as I wanted something for him not electronic. He digged it. 😁

The gemstone dig kit is a winner as an activity for my Grandkids, age 6 and 8. They love "excavating" the gems with the provided tools one by one, requiring patience; however, the reward is a small but beautiful gemstone. Once the gemstone is cleaned they enjoy identifying it with the included chart. The process is a little messy but worth the cleanup!

My 9 and 12 year old both got one and they had no problem finding gems. I was very happy with this product and liked that it gave descriptions on the gems they found. Nice balance of fun and education while using fine motor skills. We did it outside. It can get messy.

My son loves gems and rocks, so we are always looking for new dig sets. This one had a couple different gems, so that is always fun. The only negative was that one of them chipped into so many small pieces that it wasn't worth keeping that gem.
