Calendar Girl: Volume One

What different paths Mia takes us on
January might be my favorite of all of the months. There’s nothing to explain that the synopsis hasn’t – Mia’s father is in to a loan shark for one million dollars and is in a coma from his men beating him. She becomes an escort to try to make the money for the loan shark so he doesn’t kill her father or take it out on Mia or her sister Madison. And Mia must spend a month with each person who asks for her services – sleeping with them is not required.I mean, there were some intriguing stories throughout, but this is the one where Mia Sanders met the infamous Weston Charles Channing the third. He was sexy as sin, and the sexual (and otherwise) tension between them was palpable. He had her for an entire month, and it seemed to go by too quickly for both of them. She was more open than the rules allowed, which was a line she wasn’t supposed to cross. But it was something that drew them closer together. Also, Mia was stronger and sassier in this first month, and I liked that about her. It was before she made more of the life-changing decisions. I also liked that Wes was someone who she couldn’t seem to keep off her mind. And as much as he fought it, he had the same problem. And I loved the way he was on her mind throughout her adventures of the year. It was full of steam and sweet torture.February was exciting and sensual and my second favorite of the year. Alec Dubois was an enigma – an artist who could attract any woman but a man who knew every little thing about a woman’s body. The art he created using Mia as his muse was breathtaking from the sound of the author’s description, and I had no problem picturing what was happening at any time during the month. Alec was also a lover in every sense of the word. Rather a recluse, the sexy artist had trouble with the real world, though, and I completely understood Mia’s reluctance to stay even longer. And while she spent her time with the successful artist, Wes wasn’t far from her thoughts.March was just fun. Antony Fasano with the boxer body and the muscles on top of muscles is the heir to a famous restaurant and a fortune. He hired Mia to be his fake fiancée to keep his family off his case, and she was ready to jump in with both feet. He was tired of them telling him he needed to settle down and get married. But there was a side to Antony that would blow her mind and give her an insight into the man. He needed her for more than playing a simply fake fiancée part. And she was even more ready to help him through the massive bridge he needed to cross in order to help him find a happiness she knew he deserved. This one took me by surprise, and I really enjoyed all of the side stories.

3 3/4 stars
Well I went into this collection blind. I didn't read the blurb. That's on me. I didn't realize that each month isn't a different couple but is instead one woman who goes on "jobs" with a different man each month. There are many frustrating things about this series. The first is the "unexplained" lengthy coma that Mia's father is in. 99% of comas aren't unexplained. She acts like there is no explanation for his continued state of consciousness. And they surely wouldn't have discharged him from the hospital if they didn't know the cause! Additionally when you go to a "convalescent home" there isn't just a doctor there at whatever random time you stop in. This small medical stuff drives me batty when writers don't seem to get what the reality of these situations are. Then there is Mia. The chick just can't seem to make up her mind about anything!! One minute she's excited about the extra $20k she's "earning" and the next she's pissed that her "employers" have paid it. She loves herself and is self-assured and then she's insecure and hates herself. It's all over the place. The men...* Wes was great and I loved him. Wish she would just take him up on his offers.* Alec was a complete d-bag and I really could not stand him.* Tony, I'm glad he figures his life out.In closing I hate when writers write short stories that really could have been a single book or 2 it feels like a way to drag more money out of readers. I appreciate the volume as opposed to individual "books" but still won't be rushing to buy the next volume. I'm interested in the overall ending but not so much that it will be a priority for me.

Unfortunate situation
From the beginning you learn Mia has to pay off a debt of her fathers. She gets to be an escort of a different client each month. Some months are fun and some arent however i love how the book kept you guessing! Mias sister and best friend help keep the story to have some twists and turns!

Yes yes yes
This book was amazing and thrilling. At first I didn't think I'd like that the main character was an escort, but it's done in a classy way.

Steamy. Strong female
I have read this series a couple years ago. My sister was asking for some hot romance books for Xmas. She started reading these & already loves them. I of course recommend them!

Not To My Liking.....
I picked this book up when I saw that this was free on amazon and the cover and blurb had me intrigued. This is also my first book by this author and honestly, I wasn’t that impressed with it. Don’t get me wrong, there is a story there, but it just doesn’t seem to sparkle through as well as I thought it would. When reading through the first month of this book I did feel for the lead female (Mia) because what her and her sister have been through isn’t exactly the best and I know that not everyone’s life is perfect even when growing up. However, I genuinely thought that there was so much more to come from Mia but that didn’t actually happen. I get why she needed to do what she did but the fact that she chose to be in a relationship (a while back) with her father’s loan shark honestly made me think that she was pretty naïve… Surely if one of your own parents was in such a huge debt with a loan shark the last thing you’d do is then get with them and have a relationship…. I mean, that’s just causing trouble. But I do have to say that the first she is with when she takes the job for her Aunt is so sweet and I just wish that she would just let herself open up her heart and jump for once. However, that isn’t the case and from February I found myself just not getting into the story as much. I found the whole of February to be boring honestly and instead of seeing Mia grow as a character I saw her in a new light that just didn’t suit her. I couldn’t even finish this book because by the time I got to March I was just bored by it, there just wasn’t anything to keep the story going. Plus, what also didn’t help that through the chapters I did read through March there was constantly adverts, I can understand putting an advert at the beginning of a book or even at the end, but whilst you’re reading the book that you purchased it just doesn’t seem right. Plus, it’s really off putting as a reader. I don’t think I’ll be reading any more work by this author, but just because it’s not my cup of tea, doesn’t mean you should just take my word, give it a try yourself and form your own opinion.

Calendar Girl 5+*****
My first read of a Audrey Carlan book with January, February and March in Calendar Girl and boy what an awesome ride, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Mia's story so far with Wes Channing, hot, rich, movie writer in the first book, January....WOW!!! Then Alec Dubois, hot, rich French artist in the second book, February....WOW AGAIN!!! Then Anthony Fasano hot, rich restaurateur with his "friend" Hector Chavez....BRILLIANT!!! Highly recommended and I most definitely will be reading more of Audrey Carlan books.

Not sure
I've gone with three stars because I just don't know how I feel about this. It's an interesting concept but most of the books I like to read, once my hero and heroine meet that's it and obviously this is not like that, AT ALL!! So I'm just not sure, I won't be rushing to buy the next instalment, but if I should think of it in the future I may continue.

Rubbish
Mia has gone into the escort business to pay for her father's hospital bills. She has to stay with each one for a month. I found the stories for each month too daft to be able to get into the story.... I mean the first one his mother is the one who picked her Ugh!
