After a Year and a Half, They're Still Good
I bought these in January 2014, and I'm still happy with them. Sure, they're cute, but they also get the job done. The lids are all still attached to the body of the container. They all still have the pictures on the top despite washing (sometimes in the dishwasher). They are a pop-top lid, not a screw top lid (as in the description), so they are not leak proof. (If you want a leak proof screw top on a larger container, I would recommend the lunch bots one in my photo showing their size. At least, those are what I use when I want something bigger and/or it really needs to be leak proof.) That said, I have NEVER had issues with them leaking in over a year and a half of adult use. This means use by people who don't drop our lunch box/bag or hurl it on the floor when we arrive to work/school. We keep our lunch box/bag upright and treat it with a normal level of care (we don't take special care, we just don't toss it around or carry it upside down -- our lunches have occasionally fallen over in the car on the way to work/school though) and there have been no leaks. They DO hold liquidy things like soy sauce and don't leak or pop open (see photo -- I'm holding it upside down with soy sauce inside of it), IF you don't drop or literally throw your lunch box/bag around. I find it helpful to push them down into the rice just a little ways inside the lunch box and it keeps them from bouncing/being tossed around (see my photo). They are also good for ketchup, mayo, and ranch dressing (condiments!). The big plus, if you are accustomed to bento (Japanese) sized condiment containers, is that the lid opening is big enough that you can actually get in there and clean them! No wasteful throwing away of those little bitty squeeze bottle containers that you can't clean out! They would also work with things like syrup for breakfast, but I personally would use 2 of them for that application (I love maple syrup). :D So, if you are like I am with syrup, and you like to have gratuitous amounts of condiment (aka if you like ranch with your chicken nuggets or fries with your ketchup), one of these is probably not going to be big enough for you. Likewise, if you are a person who does physical labor (or if you just eat a lot), you might be taking enough food that you'll need 2 of these to cover the amount of food you want to eat. If you want to try to dip something really large into it (e.g. a whole piece of chicken, a full-sized corn dog, etc), the opening of these will probably not be wide enough. They are NOT big enough for the usual thing we do with a plate -- they don't hold the same amount of sauce that many people dump/squirt into a pile on their plate (and then often throw away half of it because we didn't use it all). I also would not recommend using only one of these for salad dressing unless you are having a side salad. A big salad that is the main part of your meal would probably take 2 of these containers' worth of salad dressing.Overall, they're cute, they have lasted over a year of normal adult handling and some runs through the dishwasher, they're easy to clean, they get the job done, and I'm still happy with them. :)

Perfect!
I've actually ordered these twice now. (We lost a few of the first set) They hold up great and are perfect for little extras in my kiddos' lunches... things like parmesan cheese or a few chocolate chips to top something. They dont leak with condiments, but I also dont put anything watery in them. Very happy with this purchase.

they are adorable and hold just enough
These were a gift to go along with a bento box, lunch bag, drink container with the totoro, kotobuki theme. The little boxes are absolutely adorable, cute little cartoon characters and bright colors. They are plastic but I am not sure if they are BPA- Free, I didnt ask. I would advise against letting little kids play with these because they are small, and i also wouldnt wash these in the dishwasher because if they fell they would melt. It seems like they hold about a tablespoon of dressing, little salad seeds, sesame seeds for her rice bowl, marinade, soy sauce, and even just a little bit of yogurt or sour cream. Two of these have opened in her lunch bag and made a mess, not sure if they just werent closed properly or if they just open like that, time will tell. I would use these for older kids, or adults as little condiment dishes, but not for play for little hands. These were shipped fast, and she was totally happy to have this as part of her new set. I would love to find other containers just a little bit bigger but for her needs she says they are pretty good. I believe these are from japan, but they must be shipped from the USA because she got them rather quickly. These really are good for people who are also losing weight, bento boxes only hold so much food, and these containers help you not overload on the dressing!

Cute but Small
These are cute but oh my so small. I'm not quite sure what I'll use these for in terms of sauces, but these are cute for vitamins, medication, or a small garnish.

So Cute!
EDIT nov 24, 2013:These are perfect for what I got them for! Sauces can easily fill up the inside and even after some tossing the don't pop open. So far I've used then for bbq sauce, mayo and ketchup. They clean easily and dinner seen to hold smells or stains. The designs have not been affected by cleaning.I just received these today and was actually very impressed with how deep each container is. They are small enough to fit into bento boxes but the depth is enough to fit 11 stacked quarters. Width wise they are about an 1" to 1-1/2" across. The lids snap closed securely which is nice.I haven't had a chance to use them so this review does only have 4 stars because of that. Otherwise, I am pleased with this product. My only complaint is that because this is authentically Japanese...the directions are fully in Japanese so I have no idea if they are dishwasher safe.I used the google translate app on my phone and was able to decipher some general ideas:-Wash before use with sponge-keep out of reach of children-keep away from fire or else this will become deformed-do not microwave-do not put in mouth (no duh...)It also seems to caution against use in a dishwasher and refrigerator, and the use liquids in the container.Hope this helps!

Cute though small
I bought these because of the reviews that said they were leak proof. So far I have had no problems with anything leaking. I really like the animal designs as they are super cute. They are small, but they hold exactly enough for what I need and they fit great in all sorts of lunch/bento sized boxes. Though I mainly hand wash them, I did wash them in the dishwasher and so far there have been no problems.

Tooo small
Size is tooo small. I bought it for my niece to carry sauce for her school lunch, but it’s too small that while she tries to open the box she might end up spilling it all over her.Am not returning it since she liked the cute design and is storing her little hatchimal toys and rings inside

Great for Ketchup or other sauces
I use these to pack my toddlers lunches for school. He loves ketchup so that’s what I use them for but they will work perfectly for any other sauce. They are nice and compact so it fits easily in his omie box
