great for young children
This book is short and simple so it is good for younger children. It goes back and forth between describing the wolf's journey and the little girl who is watching his progress through reports in the news. Great to use to talk about a variety of subjects; reintroducing wolves, loss of habitat, wolves, or in my case I am using it while talking about the states of Oregon and California.

Little one loves it
Little one loves this book - she took it to the Dr. office with us and some were amazed that a 5 yr old was reading but she is and I'm so thankful!

Journey is visually stunning and beautifully written, would make a great gift!
Both of my children, age 8 and 12, were transfixed with this book. The author weaves such a story that you are immediately drawn into the tale of a lone wolf, Journey, and his trek across Oregon and California. We have purchased this book several times to give as gifts because we have found that children really enjoy the dual stories of Abby following Journey's story and also what it was like for Journey to be a lone wolf looking for a mate or a pack to join. This story would be fantastic to read aloud in a classroom as well, as it helps children start the dialogue about how our environment impacts the paths these animals must take in order to survive. I highly recommend this book and hope you get a chance to enjoy it too!

Great story, great wolf information
My grandson really enjoyed this book (he is seven). He even named his stuffed toy wolf "Journey"!

An inspirational book for teachers/students!
Journey is so beautifully-written and engaging for both adults and children. I use this book in my second grade classroom to kick-start our non-fiction readers and writers workshops. Using Journey, my students can decipher the difference between fiction, realistic fiction, and non-fiction genres. The story of OR-7 (Journey) and the caring citizens that tried to save him is inspirational. The illustrations are stunning and have been the catalyst for many students to practice drawing realistic animals for their stories. I am super excited that Emma Bland Smith has written other books and can't wait to read them to my students!

A beautiful non-fiction picture book, sure to become a classic!
This is a beautifully-written book with gorgeous illustrations. The narrative follows two storylines: a wolf and a young girl tracking the wolf's progress. With great empathy and emotional acuity, Emma Bland Smith has crafted a story that explores the inherent drama and tension of leaving one's home and embarking on a life journey. In so doing, she has also succeeded in raising awareness for the plight of these animals and other endangered creatures. JOURNEY has become a household favorite (so much so that it was one of three books packed into our suitcase on a recent evacuation from our home). I highly recommend this lovely book!

Not a book, more like a comic. No es un libro al uso, es mas bien un tebeo/comic.
The drawings are good, but I bought it for my 10 year old daughter who was not to happy to find out that it would be read in 10 minutes. She expected a proper book. The definition says it has 90 pages or so, but most pages have just a couple of sentences on them.La descripción dice que tiene 90 páginas, pero en la mayoría de ellas no hay mas que dos lineas de texto.

Riveting read
A wonderful, timely and well-researched piece of writing, beautifully balanced between wolf and child perspective. The illustrations also serve to draw the reader in. As an example of nature writing for children it is unsurpassed.
