You are about to get a true story
Way back in the day, I went to school with a young gay man, who was a disappointment to his father. I believe it not was because of his sexuality, but of the choices he made and those he did not make. Quite frankly, they had a communication problem. The father clearly loved his son, but each arguement ended in "because i'm gay". I think the father, unable to find the words, just gave up. His father came to our college for an event. I happened to be assigned to egg salad sandwiches for the afternoon tea with this young man. I, as I have always done, because I hate soggy, fall apart sandwiches, lightly toasted the bread. Because I knew his father was coming and egg salad sandwiches were one of his favorites, I told his nervous son, you need to do this. I asked him to get out all the ingredients and I would go over it with him but he needed to accomplish this on his own. In the fridge, the young man found a nearly full opened can of these truffles. Yes. These are not really truffles, but a few bits of real truffles, surrounded by regular everyday mushrooms. Let's face it. one real truffle can cost 1k+. The taste is still there. At that moment in my life, my strongest thought about this product was ....It works well enough. I was concerned it would turn the colour of the egg salad. The young man wanted so much to use 'real truffles' for his fathers egg salad sandwich. I caved in and allowed the strange concoction, monitoring it each step of the way. over his shoulder, out of the corner of my eye, just passing through. I asked him to drain the mushrooms in a small strainer and we would use the juice to lightly wilt the tiny diced onion and celery in a fry pan. We gave it a go. Surprisingly it did not alter the colour to any noticable extent. I credit that to cooking the mushrooms slightly to get out the colour and using the liquid for the saute pan. Everything sorta absorbed itself, or perhaps God was watching closer than I was and actually had a hand in it. The first person served that day was his father. He had been waiting at the front door for better than an hour. Although his father loved egg salad sandwiches, and he recieved two full sandwiches, instead of the two tea sandwiches apportioned for each guest, he was clearly disappointed at the 'culinary' creation of his son. He expected more from a culinary acadamy. "This is lunch?" He asked his son. The son said, "Yes. It is what I was assigned to make for the afternoon tea service. I thought you'd like more of these." The father looked down at his plate and said thank you. His son walked back to the kitchen and we both, peeked out around the corner of the kitchen window into the dinning room and held our breath. The young man said, "ah dad don't!!" under his breath, as his dad grabbed the salt shaker and sprinked it on the inner workings of the first sandwich. He then took a bite, and began to chew, then smile. He didn't salt the the second sandwich. The highest complement a young chef could ever have. You see, they really did love each other. Excerpt from Miss Elizabeth Marie's, Memories of a lifetime. I have never stopped using these poor man truffles since.

More than I expect
I opened this thinking how lovely the sauce will be in the evening meal. Tasted the rich flavors and decided to use just a little bit and jar the rest. Froze one jar and have been cooking with the other half for days. Using like tapenade on sandwiches. For breakfast this morning, combined and sauteed in wee bit of olive oil: 1/2 tbsp with 1/4 tsp Better Than Bouillon and flesh of 1/4 tomato. Once I got the aroma, added 2 farm fresh eggs, used a wood skewer to whip only the egg white with the truffle & tomato, topped with seedalicious bread, turned the fire to low and covered the fritatta pan to cook the egg white and warm and soften bread. It was a great breakfast and a joy to cook. definitely value for the money, even on fixed retirement income.

There is something about it
My sister who lives in Italy was raving about this product and highly recommended me to try it to get myself hooked too. Ebay's Italian store where she was buying it paying $18 per 16oz jar wanted 35 Euro just for shipping to US and I didn't want to pay that much for the product I never tried. This product was the least expensive one I've found here, even being small size, just to try. What can I say about it. It's unusual to say the least. I am very fond of caviar and I was expecting something alike, but it isn't. It's not salty, and tastes like minced mushrooms with an obvious truffle oil. It was a bit too greasy for my liking but spreading it on crackers helped a lot and was actually pretty tasty after I got into it. The jar was quite tiny and I was done with it in one day thinking that I will never buy it again. But, 2 days later I was missing it. I would buy it again if I find a cheaper source here in US.

Rusty and dented cans! Unsafe to eat
The cans are rusty and have multiple dents. Expected far more for this price than unsafe to eat items. I can’t believe I paid all of this for non refundable cans of food that are covered in rust and badly dented.

Scrumptious!!!
My daughter's French mother in law brought a little jar of this she had gotten in northern Italy when she came to visit and simply tossed it with cooked pasta and it was extraordinary and special and what could be an easier meal? It truly tastes like something elegant you slaved over in the kitchen and wows guests. It's also great as an accompaniment to cheeses. Love it and am so happy to see that Amazon carries it because it's truly hard to find.

DELICIOUS DECADENCE
This was so delicious, with its delightful, earthy aroma evident as soon as the can was opened. I used it to make quick and easy white pizzas, which tasted quite gourmet without any of the fuss. Even my husband, who does not like truffles (but loves mushrooms), said the pizza was quite tasty, too -- and there was enough truffle taste to also keep me happy. We thought this white pizza would also make a delicious appetizer. This purchase was rather expensive for a small can (less than a cup in the can), but the subscribe & save discount helps, and I have already made sure it will be in next month's order. I think it will be fabulous over pasta or in risotto next time around. Highly recommended!
