An Essential Map for Navigating Paris
I love this brand of maps - Streetwise! I usually always buy this brand when traveling because they are easy to carry and very durable. The map included all of Paris and went farther outside the city as well. If you are just visiting Paris I can't imagine that you would need a map that included any area farther out that what this map covers. Another great feature of this map is that it has a very detailed map of the Metro lines and stations in and around Paris. It includes all of the lines and is color coded just like the maps you see at the stations. Since we mainly used the subway and trains to travel around Paris and outside to Versailles it was great to have the map with us at all times so we knew which stops were on which lines and where to catch them. The map was very accurate and we never found anything wrong with any of the street names or any of the markers. There is a lengthy list of streets, hotels and parks as well with a guide to tell you where that particular place is on the grid. So you might be asking, why do I need a map if I have a phone with GPS? The answer is simple - there is really nothing like having it all laid out in front of you so you can plan your day relative to where everything you want to see is. The problem with using a phone is the coverage is sometimes spotty and the screen is so small it is hard to tell how far things are. We definitely used our phones' GPS apps to find places but having a map was extremely useful in planning out our itinerary and it was nice to pull out when we wanted to find a rail station. This is my review rating system: 5 Stars: Awesome! I would definitely purchase this product again. 4 Stars: Great but not perfect I would probably buy this again but I had a few issues with it! 3 Stars: Good and would look around to see if I could find something better before I repurchased. 2 Stars: Not Good and would not buy again. 1 Star: Stay Away! Not worth anything you pay for it.

GREAT map!
After reading the reviews, I purchased this map for our romatic trip to Paris with my husband. We couldn't have made a better choice for our needs. Here are the pluses for the map: (1) It's laminated so you don't have to worry about it getting ripped, wet or bent out of shape, (2) It's very easy to read and navigate, (3) The tourist attractions are marked on the map by the name and also the shape of the building itself (a VERY nice feature), (4) Along with the METRO lines on the map, there is also a seperate METRO map showing simply the lines and stops (4) The METRO lines are presented in color-code so it's easy to determine which line you need to take to get from place to place, (5) There's a list of the most popular attractions, hotels, museums, shops and parks and their locations on the map. The only negative(s)about the map wasn't a negative for us and probably won't be an issue for the average visitor to Paris. That is that, although it covers a lot of Paris, it doesn't cover the very outreaching sections of the city. If you plan on spending a month in the city, you may want a more detailed map, but it's not an issue for the average tourist. As some have stated, the map is divided up onto two sides. You have to flip the map periodically depending upon where you're going in the city. This was NOT a problem for us and I doubt the average person would think it was either. For the average tourist, this map will do you just fine. It covers everything you want to see and do and it's very user friendly. We liked it so much, we purchased a Streetwise Map for our trip to Seattle this summer!

Not essential on our first trip, but still indispensible for the 'flaneur'
We used this for a recent trip and I have mixed feelings about recommending it, not because of the product, but because of our use of it. It is obviously very durable, especially in the rain, but it takes a little getting used to since Paris is sliced into 3 sections and you have to get the gist of how they fit together. It opens up wide to be very legible, but with all the warnings about local pickpockets, I didn't want to look like a tourist. One thing that was spectacular: it lists the names of all the metro stations alphabetically so you can quickly find its map coordinates. That was a very handy feature. It details the whole city and is best used by a 'flaneur' a la Edmund White's excellent book. Before we left, I thought that's exactly how we'd see Paris, but in reality there were so many major sites to cover in our six days that we stuck with those (which are easy to find using street maps which all the hotels have). 'Flaneur'-ing (if that is a word) will have to wait until our next visit. Then this map will become critical.

User Friendly, Convenient Map. Would Not Have Gotten Around Without It! Public Transportation MUST
I cannot say enough about this map. My mom and I would not have gotten around Paris without it. If you're thinking about buying this, buy it, as the maps you'll find in the airport won't compare. We bought a few, and they just didn't work. Also, if you're taking public transportation, this map is a MUST. Both my mom and I are directionally challenged, and this map saved us! Pros: Laminated (more convenient than you'd think when you're taking it in and out of your purse all day long) Convenient size (more convenient and a little less touristy than a map the size of a newspaper) Easy to read directory of streets Good layout User friendly Public transportation friendly Cons: I honestly can't think of any cons

Good map, but...
The map is but it is split into two sides, thus requiring users to flip it while using it. Also, I love the lamination, but even when the map is folded, it remains way too bulky, thus undermining usability on the go. Specifically, we used the map to traverse Paris by foot and on the local bikes, which meant that we needed to put the map in our backpack; the map would not fit into even a large size pocket. Finally, keep in mind that you can get endless maps at any of the hotels, so though $6 is not a lot of money, it is infinitely more than zero...

Extremely helpful, little complaints
This is about as complete a map as I think you can find. I tend to use a lot of maps, but always found myself going back to this one whenever we needed to navigate somewhere. We just got back from Paris, and I was able to find every single street I ever looked for on this map. I found the maps of the Metro stops easier to read on this map than the official Metro map. The only drawbacks - the layout is a bit odd. They chose to center the center of the city, which makes sense, but for the North part you have to flip over, and for the South part, you have to flip over. Just a little unusual. Also, there are no Bus markers, if you were looking for that.

Perfect for your coat or cargo pants pocket.
Very happy with this laminated pocket version of Paris. It covers most of the places I plan on visiting and also includes a small Metro map. I will probably carry this with me in my coat pocket as I like to always have a map with me. I do have a much larger map of Paris, but for day to day use, this should work out well. I also like the street index to quickly find a location. The type is small, but readable. Very happy with this purchase.

Best map of Paris
I LOVE this map of Paris! (have also used the Streetwise map of Athens) It's accurate, detailed, folds easily to the section you need to use, waterproof, etc., etc., etc. I especially like that the arrondisements are outlined, which makes finding things easy if you know the Arr. number but not the exact street. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that the farther North and South sections of the city are on the flip side, which is confusing at first, but once you figure that out it's very easy to use. I think the makers did that so that the central city (and the Seine) would be the main focus. BUY this map - you'll be glad you did!
