Brundo Berbere Chili Blend - A wiinner!
Brundo Berbere Chili Blend has a unique flavor profile that is BOLD! The spice blend comes as a fine powder, and a little goes a long way, I've bought this a few times now and haven't bothered trying any other berbere brand.IMHO this spice will enhance the flavor profile of your dish (used it with beef, chicken dishes, veggies like lentil stews and dips etc.) This does have a little heat to it, but if used right, it will kick up the flavor experience of your dish. Used it this past Superbowl to enhance the flavor of one of our dips, and of the 4 dips we had on the table, the one with the berbere won out.Product has "no artificial additives or preservatives—just pure, traditional Ethiopian spices." I'm not a chef or an expert on Ethiopian cuisine, but I know what I like. Brundo Berbere Chili Blend is a winner!

Smells so authentic, taste even better!
I haven't used it yet but it is soo fragrant and very fine! Will be using within the next week to give a full review.UpdateI used it! First I tasted a little and it was soo good. Then I combined the traditional Ethiopian wat with my southern style and used pork neckbone. The flavor of the berbere shined and it wasn't too spicy as I used 1/4 cup. Will be ordering the large pack and other spices!

Amazing flavor!
My family loves Ethiopian cuisine, and we get to our local restaurant as often as possible. It’s a fabulous place but a bit of a drive. I thought I’d try my hand at tibs - my fave and it didn’t sound impossible but I needed help with the seasoning. I’ve experimented a little and this is by far my favorite blend of berbere. A little heat and a lot of flavor - a small amount goes a long way. Using this plus niter kibbeh (also from Brundo, highly recommend!) gave me tibs similar to what I’ve eaten in restaurants. I’ve since bought some other blends from Brundo and have yet to find one we don’t love.

Authentic blend
Berbere varies a bit from different localities. This is one of a number of authentic blends, very pleasant, not killer hot. If you want more heat add some red pepper.I've had some American knockoffs that just didn't cut it and tasted awful. This stuff might not be hot enough for you, or too hot, or not sweet enough, etc, but the base flavor is there. I like it and will always keep some on hand for Ethiopian stews. I like to smoke it in a dry cast iron pan just a little before adding other stuff, also sprinkle or rub (dry) on the stew meat while it's resting prior to cooking.

This stuff is MAGICAL
I've been using it for Duba Wot. An Ethiopian spiced squash stew. It is SO good.

Simply delicious !
Discovered berbere spice about 18 months ago after watching a cooking show from an Ethiopian/Swedish chef who was using berbere in his recipe. I adore spices and love discovering new flavors. Found some in a spice store during a business trip in Australia in April 2023, but that store does not ship nor deliver to the US. Had finished the berbere I had brought back from Australia and looked for more on Amazon. Decided to order this one because it is sold by a small business company and because the previews reviews were excellent. I can only confirm that I was not disappointed. The berbere I received from this seller is authentic, extremely flavorful and delicious. An absolute winner!

With the right spice, Ethiopian food is not as intimidated as I'd feared.
Having eaten at local Ethiopian restaurant, I decided that I would try my hand at making Doro Wat (chicken stew). After researching where to find the most authentic spices, I ordered Berbere from Brundo Ethiopian Spices. The folks there were helpful in guiding me to a good recipe, as well as to an Ethiopian cookbook that placed food into perspective. Regarding the Doro Wat, I was skeptical when I saw the list of ingredients, doubted that it would provide the full-bodied taste I'd experienced in the restaurant. Boy was I wrong. Berbere is powerful! The heat stays around while after the bite is gone! But it's not just heat, as in a hot chili pepper. It's rather a small explosion of various spices that keep surprising. I will make Brundo Ethiopian Spices my go-to for other attempts as I explore this cuisine. Ethiopian food is an adventure!

I would prefer it a little hotter.
It has a very nice flavor. I would prefer it though, a litter hotter. Thus far, I have poured all 8 ounces in a larger container and mixed in one teaspoon of cayenne powder. Let's see what happens. There might be another hot spice or herb that would do the trick.
