My husband is 6'8". Would a standard model like this work for his height?

Hi Jackie - I am 6'5" and it worked fine for me. I just checked and the back rest is expandable to well beyond a 6'8" height. I think it would be fine.

I'm a little over the 300 lb max.What's your impression tell you about if it's built well enough to allow a few pounds leeway?

It is very sturdily built and heavy. My weight was in the 170+ range and I am 5'5". I could not shake it and have to wiggle it across the floor to move it. Hope this helps a little.
