It works in a business environment
I work at a small business and this is the fifth desk we've gotten because we've only recently started getting these for our employees. We plan to continue buying this brand as needed. It's the perfect size (Almost! Read on for details), it raises/lowers as expected/intended, there is no assembly required, and it stays put once placed. The base on this desk doesn't slide around on top of the surface it resides on which is excellent! This is exactly the right size for two monitors, and they sway a minuscule amount when we raise/lower the desk. The keyboard and mouse also sit on the desk. There isn't enough room for a desk phone without it being in the way of a monitor. When the person is sitting this is not an issue. When they stand up, they have to move the phone. I think an option for a swivel shelf with a lock-in-place mechanism would be wonderful with the added option to put it on either side of the desk depending on which side of your desk you want the phone. This may also provide useful for a mouse area as well if someone didn't want to use the desk with a phone. Though, an adjustment would need to be made to make the shelf even with the top of the desk to avoid being awkward. The way the products options are listed in Amazon, I think it would be easy to list this as an option for this product. We wouldn't mind spending a few extra dollars on this feature if it was available.Cable management is an concern for us though isn't a problem with longer cables and/or placement. We've seen some other desks come with the little stick on cable tie clips. I think this is a matter of preference and not up to the seller to provide, but I do recommend you keep that in mind when you are thinking about where your cables are going to go; especially when there is the possibility they could be clamped accidentally under the desk. It looks much neater to have all the cables wrapped up and extending down from a single point mounted on the back of the desk in my opinion. We keep a loop of the cables for the monitors so that the loop expands and contracts as the desk is lowered and raised on the back of the desk via a mounted cable. If you are using anything, such as a monitor, on the desk, then you must measure the length of the cables connected to the device. If the cables are not long enough, the device may be pulled backwards off the desk if it is raised above the limit of the cable length. This may also pull on the other end of the connection which doesn't bode well for either connected end. I certainly don't recommend lifting a computer up by a display connection. It's a good idea to go slow and make sure there is slack in the cables 100% of the time. It's easier measuring this once and determining proper cable length than trying to figure out your height limit of the desk itself every time you want to raise it.We purchased a different brand from another seller because we needed a larger desk and the hydraulics malfunctioned. We didn't have anything extra than what I've mentioned here, and I believe the size of the hydraulics didn't conform to the size of the desk. I believe the size of this desk allows the hydraulics to function better at length and you know from reading above what we usually have sitting on the desk. Though, I can't be certain of this as I said we just started purchasing these desks recently; maybe about four to five months ago. One, out of the five, employees that just started using this desk reported that it was awkward for her to raise. We were able to work out the best way for her to adjust the desk and she was able to do so better after adjusting her posture and technique without adjusting the position of the desk. I recommend making sure your back is straight, not bending at the waist, and using your legs as you would if you were lifting a box off the floor if you have any issue at all with raising/lowering the desk.To purchase with the desk:1. We have also been getting anti-fatigue mats to use with these desks; even on thin carpeted floors. This has made a huge difference in prolonged use of this desk and I say a 'must' for daily activity. We use these in many areas of the building and not just with desks.2. Anti-slip pads are inexpensive and last. While you may never need them, you may consider them if you have any issues at all with the keyboard or other items sliding around.3. Mouse pad. While most mice today have no issue, we've noticed that sometimes the refraction of our laser-based mice can cause a bit of an issue. We get the thin, non-shiny matte finished pads that adhere to the surface of the desk and work very well. The last suggestion is for the seller [or those that like to modify products]. In my opinion, this would be a great addition to an otherwise wonderful product: A recessed phone/pen tray (option) as you see on a lot of lap desks.

Great productivity tool to stimulate thinking and promote better health!
This was my first time to use a convertible sitting to standing desk and have had one full day with it in the office. I read a lot of reviews before selecting this product as it was consistently given good reviews. I'm not at all disappointed! I was surprised by the size of the desk top. It has room for my laptop plus another monitor if I chose to use one. Since I don't use another screen it holds my Bible (I'm a Pastor), planner, phone, mouse and a small wireless keyboard I bought to use while standing. The mechanism to raise or lower the unit is easy to maneuver and you can convert between standing or sitting in a jiffy. I would encourage would be buyers to pay close attention to the given measurements because this thing takes up a lot of real estate on your desk. Thankfully I have a large executive L-shape desk so I happen to have plenty of room for this plus all the other stuff on my desk. It may take a little while to get in a groove to stand for long periods of time and I can already tell I should of ordered an anti-fatigue mat to stand on with it because we have hardwood floors and no carpet in our office. I would suggest getting a wireless keyboard because the unit will sit a full 2-1/2 inches above your existing desktop. If you're using a usb wired keyboard you may get frustrated quickly but with the number of inexpensive wireless keyboards available you won't have any issues. The working height is certainly adaptable to pretty much anyone's height. I'm 5'10" so I use the unit fully extended while I'm standing and I find I can type and write comfortably. The unit is sturdy for me to lean on and doesn't wobble around. It's fairly heavy but a man of average strength and health should be able to move it a short distance to another table - like a conference room table nearby. For two people it would be much easier. I can tell I'm going to love this sitting/standing desk! Great unit these guys have made.

Solid, easy.
"Sitting is the new smoking." Ain't THAT the truth. After 35 years of sit-down work I have some serious back problems. I determined a sit-stand desk would be necessary to improve my health. That said, I'm VERY picky about my home workstation setup. I have a number of other ergonomic changes I've made and I MUST keep them. This desk converter is perfect. It's large enough to hold a large monitor, my old-school wide Microsoft Ergonomic Keyboard and still have room for a wireless mouse (Evoluent, also ergonomic) my glasses and a cup of tea. It raises and lowers easily - just grasp a handle on the left and pull up or push down. The surface is a smooth glossy black, yet my mouse works with it just fine, no need for a mouse pad.The frame that supports it has soft rubber padding on the bottom, so I feel safe putting it on my dining room table (I work at home) and moving it if needed. When extended it's solid and feels safe. The only possible downside is this thing is a bit heavy. If you leave it in place, no problem, but I have to set up and break down every day (dining room table). But other than that I highly recommend it.

Worth every penny!
I wish I would have purchased this product a lot earlier. I researched many different types of standing desks, and tried out a few other brands that my co-workers use. I opted for the Defy Desk and couldn't be happier. The Defy Desk is simply awesome! First of all, I feel like I can concentrate so much better from a standing position...not to mention how much less fatigued my lower back feels - even after a few hours of use! Secondly, the work space is large enough to accommodate my laptop, mouse pad, and notes/resources/books to which I'm referring in my work - but still compact enough to fit on my desk. Third, it came out of the box pre-assembled and ready to go! It's incredibly easy to operate with a simple and smooth lever to place the desk in just about any position you could want. Lastly, the Defy Desk is incredibly sturdy. There's not even a hint of being wobbly when using a mouse or typing. To sum up: less back pain, perfect size, easy-to-use, and sturdy. What's not to like? I can't recommend this product highly enough.

Sturdy, exactly as described but not very portable
This gets high marks for sturdiness, stability, versatility in height. For those of us working from hone in the pandemic, this is an excellent option to transform your home workspace into an ergonomic office. And if you have a dedicated hone office, this is a great, affordable option for a standing desk. The one flaw in my opinion, and why we didn’t keep it, is that it’s heavy, bulky and not very portable. I’m working in my living room during the week and literally unplugging on the weekends. So I carry away my relatively light “all in one” computer every Friday night and bring it back every Monday morning. As much as I wanted to use and live the standing desk option in my home workspace, this is just not feasible for me. This is heavier than my computer, and the hassle of moving this heavy item back and forth every week just won’t work for me. So , cheesy as it it, I’ve returned this and am using a cardboard box for my standing desk platform instead - super light and easy for me to move back and forth. But if you have a dedicated, permanent office space, this is an excellent adjustable desk option.
