like how they read the story with minimal animation
My 2.5 year old daughter loves Curious George and the other stories are cute too. They remind me of Reading Rainbow style, like how they read the story with minimal animation. I read a lot to her so it's like a special treat for her to see the actual books on tv. It's something nice to add to a child's educational DVD collection.

Very Disappointed!!!!!
Although the description says "animated", don't believe it!!! The only animation for the George clip is someone moving pictures of the character around!!! My granddaughter (4), kept asking when they were going to do something! The other parts--yes curious george has only one episode even though the title says other wise--were very disturbing to my granddaughter. All in all, money I shouldn't have spent!!! sandy ;^)

The Term Is "Iconographic"
The stories that are photographed, not fully videoed are a style called "iconographic". It allows the child to enjoy the story and the illustrations.Of course it would be far, far, better if the parent would actually sit down with the child and READ the book. But for those who use videos, at least this is exposing the child to some quality literature--and the story quality is far far better than most of the fully animated junk out there!

Not Animated, Not All George, But Not Bad Either
Although many reviewers (probably younger folks) give it as a reason to dislike the DVD, for my wife and I, the PRIMARY APPEAL of this early A/V version of Margaret and H.A. Rey's story is its filmstrip-like lack of animation, having both been saturated with filmstrips in parochial school. Our 2.5 year old and 1.5 year old LOVE it, as well as the other stories here. Honestly, I think the biggest reason for the poor ratings is the admittedly misleading front cover. Once past that, the video is just fine. It is in regular rotation in our house full of Curious George fans.
