Best Multi-grain Cereal Available in Bulk!
I use this product as a hearty hot cereal and addition to breads. It can be conveniently cooked in a small rice cooker to have ready to eat when I come in from evening chores for a hot supper in winter. It's a good savory side dish as well in place of rice or potatoes. Goes well with everything! It's helped lower my cholesterol levels, too! I can live on this during cold weather! Please don't discontinue this one. It's an all around winner!

Not gluten free--but my family loves it.
This cereal contains wheat products and gluten. Unfortunately, I can't eat it. But my other gluten-eating family members enjoy this very much. We cook it at 1 part cereal to 3 parts water, simmering about 15 to 20 minutes or so until soft. A nice alternative to the usual oatmeal.

Wow!!! I’m blown away! It’s fantastic!
I originally purchased this to add texture to homemade breads. However, this morning I decided to try it as a hot cereal. I added a teaspoon of monkfruit sweetener and a tablespoon of cream (I made the cereal with with water) and it was so delicious. This cereal is hearty, satisfying, has great texture and flavor. Since 25# is a lot of cereal, I’ve vacuum sealed it in 2# packages for long term use and kept out about 3# for use now. I hope they make this forever, As I have found my favorite breakfast ever. Also, this did not spike my blood sugar at all like any type of oatmeal does, which is a huge plus. Very healthy & delicious. I can’t recommend this enough. Yum! Can’t wait to try it in bread, too!Update: I made multigrain whole wheat bread & included 2 cups of this cereal in the dough and it’s the absolute best bread ever. Absolutely fantastic. Excellent flavor & texture. See pictures for my beautiful bread made with this amazing cereal.

If you like Cream of Wheat you'll like this cereal.
First let me say, to counter the other review on this page saying that the mixture is mostly "corn and rice", that the grain mixture per the label on the bag is as follows:Organic corn, rice, wheat, rye, millet, oats and barleyYes, you can taste the corn but you can also taste the wheat over tones along with the other grains. This is not a bland mush with no flavor. If a person has never cooked whole wheat grains or cooked cracked wheat they might not recognize the flavorful taste and smell of wheat plus the other grains. If you are still unsure about buying then check to see if you can buy a smaller bag of this combination before springing for a 25 pound bag - a lot of cereal grain to wind up unhappy with.Great change of pace from hot oatmeal and cream of wheat. A couple of recommendations: Use a teflon coated sauce pan, keep fire as low as you can get it and stir frequently. If you use a regular pan, cover and walk away fixing other things for breakfast you're libel to come back to a stuck mess in the bottom of your pan. Just don't forget or ignore. The flavor is very much like a "punched up" Cream of Wheat. A hearty breakfast with a variety of flavors. This grain is also ideal for sprinkling over bread dough before popping into the oven - gives a great crust to peasant style breads. I make a nice "no knead" bread dough that is oily and somewhat wet when turned out of the dough pan and the grains stick nicely. This bread is plopped into an already heating (500-515 degree oven) cast iron casserole, lid replaced and baked 30 minutes with lid on and 10 minutes w/o lid to brown. Terrific bread - see video for this recipe on Mark Bittman's site at the New York Times for "No Knead Bread." Great cereal and will buy again!

A good hot cereal
Makes a good alternative to mushy hot cereals out there. Great texture. If you want it soft you can always add more water and cook it longer. Otherwise, the 1 cup cereal, 3 cups water method is best for making a few servings that can be stored in the fridge and reheated. The value for money ratio is lower than optimal, but it is a good product and reduces waste having it in bulk. Certainly better than buying little packages of mush. :-)

Perfect
Delicious! 🤗 Bring six cups of water water to a boil, turn down to a bit more than medium heat.... add one cup of cereal (yields two full bowls, cooked) add butter or unrefined coconut oil (not much, so cereal doesn't stick) and stir in the butter or unrefined coconut oil well. Cook uncovered. It should bubble a bit. Set a timer for 4-5 minutes and stir when the timer rings. Repeat. STIR THIS EVERY 4-5 MINUTES OR IT WILL STICK. Takes about 👉twenty-five minutes to cook. Just time a stir at about five minute intervals or sooner . It's for sure cooked well enough if most of the water is cooked away and the cerealbegins to stick to the bottom of the pan even while stirring, okay? Just remove from heat and let it finish if it needs two minutes. It's tasty. Everything I've purchased from Great River Organic Milling is a high quality product. I'm always confident that the product will arrive as described and in good condition. Sturdy packaging. Buy this. I'll buy it again.

A great organic multi-grain cereal for a great price
I've never found an organic multi-grain cereal that was this affordable (or any non-organic multi-grain cereal for that matter). It's a nice balance of nutritious grains that cooks up creamy and delicious (I always soak my grains overnight like I do beans, on the assumption that if soaking beans increases digestibility, why not grains too?)I add 1/2 cup of dry multi-grain cereal to the batter for each loaf when I'm baking sourdough whole wheat bread (also using Great River WW flour). Will be experimenting soon using Great River multi-grain cereal as a polenta substitute for variety and higher protein. This is a very versatile and nutritious product. Thanks, Great River!!
