One thing to be careful of is that the mask is set to /24 by default, and I could not talk to it until I matched my desktop machine to that, meaning I needed to take it off DCHP, set up as static, configure the D-Link switch and then put everything back.The other way to configure it is using the D-Link phone app (why no windows app?). It was useless. It can (apparently) configure the switch, but all I got was strange "received data does not match sent" errors.Anyways, I replaced a TP-Link 24 port switch that was unmanaged with this unit. A $130 managed 24 bit switch is hard to beat, and I see that 10g is not really going anywhere (who needs that?). I don't really NEED a managed switch, but why not? Now I can talk to the switch, block out ports, whatever. Just don't expect deep packet inspection and Bob's your uncle. I haven't tried the SNMP apps, but expect to be using that capability as well.It probably runs quite cool as well, I haven't tested it because the Linksys box sitting on top of it can cook eggs.Finally, it was actually slightly smaller than the TP-Link it replaced.In general I have found the 24port stuffs works for me. I used to have a tree of switches, but having everything come back to a central box makes sense to me. That way, the switch is the only limit to speed. I have a moderately busy house for internet, and I have 17 of the 24 ports filled, so I would say this is the correct size for me.

At first I was questioning going away from Netgear when looking at network switches, but after receiving this one and just plugging it in I am very happy. I This was the first time I was going to use a switch as I had recently ran Ethernet throughout my house to get the best connection on major appliances, so I was not familiar with switches but after some research I decided a managed switch was what I wanted. The price of the Netgear managed switches with 6 ports minimum were pretty high and I did not really want to get another brand as all my network system is the same. I took a chance and boy am I happy with the outcome. It was plug & play and all my devices quicker when that are all in use. Great product for that mid to high grade category I think.

Top end,D-Link Routers and Switches handle collisions, weak and reestablished connections better than the others.Seems to self recover when the others just quit working.Plays well with other D-link devices and various end point devices, resulting in optimum throughput.

It does what it says on the label. Just plug it in and connect a pile of Ethernet cables. Runs at full gigabit speed.

Opens up a world of advanced interconnectivity at a decent price. The software is not updated often, but it is not neglected and received some minor patching for the v2.00 firmware. You should look at the datasheet and compare the models. I think this model in the updated A2 revision covers quite a lot, even things like link aggregation, powering off idle ports and all lights even, or logging to servers.Mainly I got this for its VLAN support, which is necessary to practice building clusters with Hyper-V and experiment with protocols for the edge or hybrid cloud scenarios, which is allows me to do.You shouldn't move devices around to different ports, or should try cold booting if it is not behaving as expected after rearranging settings/ports.

The default settings defined in the manual make ZERO sense, especially on a L2 switch that has no DHCP/DNS capabilities. The default gateway is actually impossible.IP address is 10.90.90.90 / SB Mask 255.0.0.0 / Default Gateway 0.0.0.0I actually have the 8 port version on another network. I was able to define a working IP for the http UI through the D-Link network app, but that is no longer available. A factory reset would reduce that to an unmanaged switch as well.These used to be a great value. Decisions by management and a lack of support has stripped this product of any such distinction along with any chance I'd buy any of their products in the future.

If you read some other reviews of managed switches with VLAN support, you'll find the others usually have some kind of downside like being unable to disable every VLAN from receiving the default VLAN or something along those lines.But not this one. It's silent, it's made of metal so it feels amazing and solid, and it's got lights that make just enough light without blasting the whole room with mini-flashlights. I like it. Thanks, Dlink.

This is an outstanding product for its price. It performs well, it is dependable and it is durable.

I’ll preface that the build quality is good, and the software UI while INCREDIBLY dated is intuitive enough to find your way around. But if you need any kind of help, don’t click on any of the support links as they all lead to broken pages or content in Chinese that doesn’t have a corresponding alternative page.

Took a bit to configure vlan, working 100%.

For the money you can not go wrong with this managed switch, it even supports SNMP and bolts into Zabbix for monitoring. If I had any wish I'd love if it had a 2.5G or SFP port for uplink ... Power consumption is low 3-4W, it's nice and compact, and the power cable goes out the back. Setup is a little bizarre, the switch is not DHCP enabled (10.90.90.90) out of the box, but this was easily accommodated. And when you make changes and apply them in sub menus, be sure and click save configuration or every time you have a reboot or a power off of the switch you will loose your changes.

It works. This is all I need from it. Good product. Recommended.

I forgot that these dlink switches are cheap for a reason. Lack of VLAN tagged and Port based is bizarre limiting feature. I can get this feature with any TP-Link, Netgear, Grandstream in the similar price range. I opted to just not deploy these and ordered Grandstreams. I learned my lesson to never buy dlink again
