Some Pros and Cons but ultimately a great scoop!
I bought this to help clean up the nasties (poop, urites, dead mealworms/crickets) from my Leopard Geckos crushed walnut substrate. Online, there was only one picture of this and it did not show how big and deep it was. I was hoping for something that tapered at the end (like the more expensive ones at PetSmart) so that I could leave Enzo's hides in place while cleaning. I ended up having to remove all the accessories from his terrarium to clean and place him in a secure box. BUT despite my minor gripes about the shape of this scoop, I actually like it. It scooped up huge amounts of the sand, sifted it, and cleaned all the nasties efficiently (even the dead mealworms that somehow made it out of their dish and burrowed into the sand). I had to shake it gently to get all substrate to sift through, so it takes more work than expected but I'm okay with that. It leaves me with less nasties and more clean substrate (crushed walnut shell bedding is super expensive!)So to summarize:PROS:-Scoops large amounts of sand, or sand-like substrate, which is great if you have big messes or want to sift the sand around so the fresher sand gets evenly distributed.-Nicely sifts the sand, leaving only the nasties in the scoop and the clean sand in the terrarium-It's made of thick and durable metal that seems to last a long while (might rust if not kept dry)CONS:-Shaped more like a bucket and less like a scoop (does not have a tapered end like normal scoops) *only a con in my eyes and still a minor aesthetic one*-Had to remove ALL terrarium decorations and Gecko in order to adequately scoop *again, not a big con unless you're short on time*All-in-all, I really like this scoop so far. I've only had it for a short time, so I will update this as I go along. It makes cleaning Enzo's terrarium so much easier and keeps the sand lasting so much longer (especially when it's super expensive)! Hope this helps any future buyers with their decision!

Works amazing on the lizards sand though for his tank
Would work well for kitty litter to get the small chunks out, however if you have the litter that has the larger size scent beads, it will take those out too unfortunately - which reduces the smell control lol.I got it to try to get the small chunks out from the cat litter, but realized it wasn't going to work.Works amazing on the lizards sand though for his tank, it really cleans it up nice and the small mesh helps get more particles out and leaves very little behind.

It does a good job in sifting out those medium small clumps that ...
Bought this for a car litter sifter, using clumping litter with a sandy consistency. It does a good job in sifting out those medium small clumps that are missed but my regular scoop. I wish it had a slightly larger screen as it takes a long time to sift out a full scoop of litter. I do like the flat front edge; I am hoping the construction lasts a long time. So far so good after a few months

Great cat litter scoop
I use this product for fine particle "clumping" clay cat litter. It works to remove the little poop flakes that pass through the conventional litter scoop. It takes longer to filter but it's worth it not to see those little annoying tiny pieces of used litter the other scoops can't get out. The mesh is made of metal and the scoop is big enough to hold quite a bit of litter/sand at one time. My only complaint is the shape. I wish it was shaped more like a shovel, but then I guess it wouldn't hold as much and would be harder to filter.

Not quite for chicken bath sand. But a good product.
Pretty good sand scoop. I wanted to use it to scoop poo and bits of litter and grass out of my chickens' bathtub wich uses play sand. I currently use a large kitty litter scoop with parallel plastic tines (this lets too much through the scoop). The scoop part is really deep. Too deep for my use. And, the mesh is too fine for my use and removes the larger and bits that I want to keep in the bath.Doesn't work well for me, but a pretty good scoop overall.

It's better to use for pine pellets separation
It's just what I wanted to use for scooping up and separating the intact pine pellets from the soiled sawdust-like or powdery heap in the cat's litter box. I had been using a regular litter scooper but the holes were too big to sieve/sift through the mess. And, it took some hours like forever to clean the litter box. But no more, it's a breeze now.

Great for sifting. Scooping isn’t perfect.
I use a garden shovel to scoop. Then I dump the contents into this product to sift (crushed walnut). As a scoop it’s a bit awkward to use for scooping the bottom of a bird cage, so it got docked a star. It works well for sifting because it’s deep. Quality made, so it retains the 4 stars.

Not a fine mesh
It feels like a good quality sieve and the handle is comfortable however the holes are bigger than I would define “fine mesh”. I bought it to clean the sand in our kids sandpit, I’m not sure this will get rid of smaller bits of broken leaves etc.

Great
I have 2 Bearded dragons that Make Quite a lot of mess, I've noticed this product at pet stores Ranging from £10-£25 Whereas I brought it from here as a bargain, it came relatively quick. It also sifts through Sand and catches anything bigger than the mesh pattern (which is very small) Would Highly recommend if you have a Pet that has sand in its environment.
