This is a good product for the price. Dog grooming shears typically cost more than this for one pair of scissors. They work well right now, but I have no idea yet on the long term usage of them. I can say they are not quite as sharp as some of the scissors I have purchased for much higher prices in the past, but I am also not afraid when I use these. They are a little smaller than some others I have ordered and not as heavy. This makes them easier to handle and cause less stress on my joints. I do like the thinning shears and they seem to do their job well. I am not a professional groomer, I am using these to groom my own 6 dogs at home. It was very nice to get all these shears and comb in one pack and to be able to store them together. The plastic cases they came in tore immediately and I guess were not meant to hold them permanently. I threw those away. Mine are stored as pictured in the photos below. It also came with oil and a soft cloth. I think they are definitely great scissors for the price being charged and would definitely recommend them for home grooming of pets. Professional groomers probably would need something heavier and more durable and sharper. The case they are stored in is very nice and they fit well inside, so it is easy to open and close and easy to store. This is a very nice feature for keeping the grooming tools clean and organized. I have 5 dogs and out of those 5 dogs, 3 need to be groomed. As you can imagine it gets very costly to take them to a groomer so I have been grooming them for the last couple of years using a small pair of men’s barber scissors. I thought it was about time that I order myself a grooming set especially for the curved scissors when doing around their eyes. First, I like to say that I don’t know of to many groomers or dogs who tolerate the metal comb. The only time I can use these is after they are done being groomed and washed. I love how these have a rubber lining inside the handles as they make using the scissor more comfortable for me to use. This set comes in a very nice case to keep everything stored in. The one thing I wish is that the curved scissors were shorter in length only because I use these in areas where you have to be very careful. You can then use scissors to shape it up, always comb the fur after each small cut so you can see the change.3 – Starting at the top of the dog’s head. Lift one side of your dog’s leg up so you can see underneath the leg. Then comb the area. If there is any unevenness, trim the area lightly to remove any stray hairs. Put down the leg and check the leg itself. Use grooming scissors to tidy around the leg by trimming any feathers on the leg to a neat edge. When it comes to the feet, use the straight grooming scissors and trim around the edge horizontally by first pulling the fur up and then trim any excess hair. For the fur between your dog’s toes, do likewise but use the thinning scissors instead to give it a soft finish.7 – Trim your dog’s side, comb the hair first and make necessary small adjustments. Trim a bit off first, as you can trim more later.8 – Repeat Step 5, this time on the hind leg of the same side.9 – Do the same thing from Step 5 to 7 for the other side of the body.10 – Now work on the dog’s tail fur. Comb the tail. If the hair under the tail is untidy, use a thinning scissors and trim off excess hair to give a soft finish so that the dog’s tail look natural.11 – Check the fur on your dog’s rear by looking at the dog from its side. Trim off any hair that is too long and shaggy.12 – Make a final pass over your dog’s coat and check for any stray hair. I use these to cut my goldendoodle. So far i have used them twice and they still seem very sharp and cut with ease. I am very impressed how well these pet scissors work. I figured they were not going to be the best BUT that is not the case. The far exceed my expectations. I will purchase again if these for some reason break but i know see that happening.
