Works great
This year I decided to add to my cookie reservoir with pecan tassies. This resulted in me having to purchase this handy tool to make the little tarts. I was thrilled to see that the gluten free dough did not stick to the tart shaper tool. If you need this type of tool, look no further than this one.

A valuable tool for making any kind if tassie.
When making pecan tassies or fruit tassies, one must form the little cups that holds the filling. This tool forms the little cups in the pan perfectly. Golly, what a huge help. No muss, no fuss.

Smooth, unfinished surface
Just got it in the mail yesterday and used the larger end to mash a small amount roasted kukui nut meat. It worked pretty well as a nut masher, I have to say, though I realize that's not it was made for. I decided to buy this tamper over others because, looking at the product photos, it appeared to have a finished surface, but that is not the case. It's unfinished, but there are no rough edges - it's a very nicely shaped tamper. I'll see how it works to help shape dough into my mini muffin tins for pecan tassies next week. I anticipate a learning curve, but It should work well. The small end fits in the wells of the mini muffin tins. Nice product.

Tampers for shaping kolaches, tart filling wells and filled top cookies
Needed a large quantity for kolache baking class I taught. Suffices for a variety of uses in pastry baking. Also makes a nice gift for the home cook who has most every gadget. I especially use it for making tassies and mini filled tarts.

Where has this gadget been all of my life??
Until a few months ago, I didn't even know that this gadget existed; I was immediately amazed by the simplicity of it but was not convinced that it would do a better job than my fingers. I have a drawer full of kitchen gadgets, and I didn't want to get another one unless I would actually use it - I'm so glad that I took a chance on this.Anyone that loves to bake knows what it's like to fill and press does mini tart pans... The bottoms and sides come out uneven - some may be too thick, others too thin. It is always so frustrating to do the sides, get it just right, and then have it crumble as you're working on the opposite end.Using a tamper is like having a perfectly rounded thumb that allows you to press the bottom and sides of a tart pan all at once. It's a solid, smooth piece of wood, that is easy and comfortable to handle. I measure out the amount of crust for each individual tart, so that they're all even, and then press down. As you do this, the bottom flattens, and the sides fill up - NEATLY! There are two different sizes on it, but I tend to use the bigger end more because it fits perfectly in a basic 24 mini-muffin/tart pan.For any tart baker, what you will love about this is the time that it will save you, particularly if you're making several tarts for parties or during the holidays. I highly recommend adding this to your kitchen gadgets - this is one that you'll actually use!

Works Great!
This is a great tool for baking. I make a lot of miniature desserts and the dough must be cut in circles and placed in those mini muffing cups. This works like a charm. I roll the dough out, cut it with a cookie cutter, place it over the mini muffin cup and push it down with the tart tamper and no problem. The directions usually say to make a round ball of the dough and put it in the muffing cup and press with your fingers to form the cup. This can cause problems as it either rips or your finger nail makes a tear and then you need to redo it or try to mend it. With the tart tamper you save time and aggravation. Sometimes the crust will come out puffed up in the pan and you need to find something to try and tap it back down which causes a problem. Not with tart tamper. It works great. I would highly recommend this product..
