If your not having any luck with growing it start it like I have so it can break through the shell and then put in dirt please be careful with scotch thistle it’s very very invasive and will kill off competition plants for water within a 5 to 6 foot range of its roots will even effect growth of other plants around it and even effect soil it’s a very Hardy plant because of this it can and will grow anywhere I love it but definitely collect seed pods before they drop can be done by cutting off flower head after it blooms and it starts to wilt by doing this you can use the seeds as please and our pollinators still get to enjoy all the beautiful blooms and you also don’t have to worry about it taking over at least from the seeds if you do this the roots spreading are usually a welcomed issue give it plenty of room at least 5 to 6 feet away from all other plants and trees happy growing

Seeds are waiting to be planted. Scotland’s national flower is not just a weed it’s a lovely medicinal plant with many uses. If you have ever been to Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 you will see thistle everywhere. The beautiful purple blooms are irresistible but beware of the thorns!

Planted in peat pots in April here in northeast Pennsylvania. One out of 30 seeds germinated. No good. Very disappointed. Would like my money back.

I planted these on Cape Cod after starting them inside the house. They grew well. I got many purple blossoms by the middle of August. I started the year before. It takes one season before they bloom. I am very pleased with this product

Two years in a row I have purchased these seeds, nothing has propagated.I followed the instructions, as well as researched proper care of thistles...nothing.
