Justice Shaving Company's Super Badger Hair Shaving Brush with White Handle - Have a Premium Super Badger Brush Shave Experience - a Great Foundation for Your Wet Shaving Kit

The brush handle is well crafted and nicely weighted for balance. However, I find the brush itself to be prickly when applying shaving soap and have experienced a lot of loose hairs detaching from the base. It lathers OK. I have not found the need for a stand when finished using this brush, as excess can be removed by flipping or shaking the brush several times by hand.Follow-up as of August 16, 2017 - This shaving brush has remained prickly when applying lather to my face and loses at least three to four hairs each shave. The brush hairs wind up on my face and consistently clog my razor during shaving. I make sure the brush is thoroughly dry after each shave, so I see no reason why this should be happening, other then quality of the brush itself. I have used much less expensive brushes without this problem.

I've never owned another brush but this one works just like you'd expect every other too, gets a great lather.

Update:After 1.5 years of daily use t's just starting to drop some hairs. This will be the next one we buy.I'll update after my son uses it. Now, before you scoff, I, me, moi, introduced my then 18yo to old-fashioned single-edge wet shaving and this is the 3rd brush I've gotten for him because he doesn't have a cup to lather in, so to speak, and because I love him too much. So, until we hear from Richie Rich I can tell you this would make a very, very nice gift for the shaver in your life. The Super Badger is one of like two brush types that SE shavers aspire to or dream of getting--they tend to be spendy. They're expensive because somebody has to go picking through a pelt to get just the right, particular, hairs of a certain quality to fill up a brush in just the right way.Meanwhile, this particular brush by Justice Shaving Company comes in a nice black cardboard box with silver ink lettering. It's a handsome brush that sings "class" and has a nice, heavy weight. It looks real nice and there's no loose hairs or visible glue or anything to belittle it (or to suggest you didn't spend a hundred bucks.)If your kid is just starting to sprout hairs on his face, it wouldn't hurt to encourage this type of shaving. It's excellent for acne,which requires clean skin and some exfoliation to control. He'll also save a fortune over his lifetime ; those disposables cost a lot of money; they aren't good for the environment either. My son loved getting his first set as a Christmas gift. I purchased this brush 2 fold ~ it is a gift for my husband but I own a vintage shave shop and love finding quality products I can refer my buyers to. I have purchased Justice in the past & was impressed, so I was very excited when I came across this beauty and I was not disappointed! I can not wait to tell my buyers about these! My husband is my tester and just landed himself the softest and most luxurious brush which I told him he not only got to test out, but it's his!In the wonderful world of wet shaving the general feeling on brushes is pretty simple ~ there is the brush you WANT and then there is the brush you NEED. Well ~ I have just stumbled upon one brush that will fill BOTH! I know there are those guys right now shaking their head and saying, "impossible, I want luxury but luxury is not affordable". It is - this brush is everything you are hoping for and looking for in a Super Badger with the price tag of that brush you're were going to settle for! Do not settle ~ everything about this brush screams luxury! You can not go wrong at this price and I am really impressed with this brush for this price tag.So why choose this brush over a $15 or $20 brush? So many people say isn't a badger brush a badger brush? And the answer is no. A Pure Badger or Best Badger are both softer, more comfortable, and have a higher performance than a boar bristle brush or a synthetic ~ a Super Badger? It will blow all of them away! The Pure Badger & Best Badger are both constructed from the main body hair of the badger and they both are trimmed to give the brush it's shape. This leads to a blunted edge which translates into a scratchier feel to the face. The Super Badger is the longer and not so abundant hair. It is very fine requiring more individual hairs to make the knot ~ for the shaver this means a nice, dense knot with a super soft feel, that will soak in the water and create an excellent lather you are not finding with any other brush, save a Silver Badger.The brush is so often the part of the wet shaving experience most men will underestimate for importance and luxury and will cut corners for costs ~ this brush will allow you the luxury you crave with a price tag that makes it attainable! The most important part of the brush is the bristle ~ this is a Super Badger ~ why spend $150 on a name brand giving you the same bristle? Virtually all of the commercial badger hair comes from China where it is abundant...so, honestly, why spend $150 for the same badger hair??I also love the handle with this brush! It is chrome (which will match that vintage razor) and a white resin that really looks and feels like a ceramic handle. It has such a classy look and it is really nice and heavy in the hand. My husband reported the weight just makes the control and lather process so much more comfortable and productive. It really has a nice look and the weight is impressive.Super badger bristles need some care ~ make sure you follow the directions and hang it bristles down to dry and this brush can last you 10 years! A $40 investment for 10 years! This comes complete with a small insert explaining how to best care for your brush in very easy to read and understand, proper English. The box is beautiful and well wrapped - it is packaged so nicely it will make a gorgeous gift for a wet shaver!As the purchaser and one very familiar with the wet shave world I am extremely happy and impressed with this brush, As a consumer, my husband was equally impressed and even reported the first use had virtually no shedding. (Some minor shedding will occur the first few uses with any brush).
