Great sounding & inexpensive, full-sized, 88-key practice keyboard!
OK. So I've had my Donner DEP-10 for about a week, and overall, I really like it. I think it's a great budget Electronic Piano with some nice features for an incredible price (cost me about $260 with coupon in Canada). Consider the cheapest semi-comparable model at Costco goes for $529 (albeit with a stand & bench) and you're laughing! Donner also sells a version with a wood stand for about $100 more, and a bench will set you back $50, so you're still easily saving over $120 without blinking! As you can see from the photos, the keyboard came well packed and weight was reasonable and solid. Good build quality. The keys have a nice faint ingrained wood pattern to them; the music stand is sturdy enough to hold an ipad, and the overall build seems solid, with no sharp corners or creaking plastic. You can also see from the pics that it's a bit of a chunky munky....I was trying to figure out why it was so fat...well, turns out, in addition to the top speakers, there are a couple of bottom-firing speakers as well, that help round out the Bass and give it the volume of a large piano without distorting. Nice touch, Donner! They also include a metal sustain pedal - and it has a switch on it to switch modes from sustain "off" by default to sustain "on" by default. Not sure when you'd choose to use that...maybe if you're playing all Tori Amos, all the time?Anyhow - how does it sound, you ask? Remarkably decent. Nice rich sound: full and bright with very decent bass, thanks to the additional down-firing speakers. The sustain holds - there's no speaker hiss. Now it's not perfect, and once you get into some of the other voices, the samples are a bit flat at the top & bottom ends, but, again - for the price, it's fantastic. What else? The back panel has a USB midi out, which my ipad and windows 10 laptop recognized immediately, and a connection for the sustain, as well as a triple pedal (if you buy the version with the stand) 1/4" audio in & out as well as, yes...power. There is also a USB in on the back for a flash drive with MP3s on it to play along to! Sorry - no self-powered unit here. USB bus power just isn't powerful enough to drive those large speakers. The keys themselves have a decent, springy feel to them and are semi-weighted and velocity sensitive. I was quite amazed at how much I enjoyed playing on a full-sized, weighted keyboard again vs. my smaller Roland Midi controller. There aren't many controls, aside from Power (which, as a nice touch, you have to hold to turn off, preventing accidental shut-down mid-practice session). a volume slider and six multi-function buttons. If I have any complaints about the unit, it's that, as with many lower-end electronic pianos, some basic functions, like changing the instrument sound, require a combo-press of the function button and a specific key on the piano keyboard itself. This means that you can't change sounds, tempos, etc., easily while playing, as these all become two-handed tasks. I did appreciate the little "click" that plays through the speaker, confirming that you have made a successful change - it helps remove the potential annoyance of not knowing if your combo press was successful. The machine itself comes with eight sounds (Acoustic Grand Piano, Bright Acoustic Piano, Electric Grand Piano, Chorus Piano, Harpsichord, Vibrating Harp, Church Organ, Strings Ensemble), and all are serviceable, but the Acoustic and chorus pianos were my favourite. It also comes with 128 different rhythms / songs to play along to. various drum beats, and common piano options like a keyboard split, chords function and two recording tracks are all useful for the budding pianist. When recording, I was surprised to find you could record both tracks and play them together, but, unfortunately, there does not seem to be a way to record on one track while playing the other, which seems something of an oversight. I did not try the MP3 feature, as I have a cel phone and bluetooth speaker, which seem like they would be less finicky to control, but for a kid who does not have these things in his/her room, it could prove a very useful feature.Other practice features I appreciated were the dual headphone jacks, so you can practice, play or get feedback from a friend or even teacher without disturbing anyone. As it should, plugging in headphones shuts off the speakers. The built-in metronome is another great touch, but a screen to confirm the BPM would have been nice.Overall, this is a great sounding 88-key electric piano for a great price! For my needs, however, I probably should have shelled out the extra $100 for their DEP-20 version. This next model up improves on the DEP-10 with a fully-weighted keyboard with touch sensitivity, more sounds, more direct / feature buttons and an LED screen, all of which, I would have appreciated, but, again - for a first keyboard, you really can't go wrong with either model, and certainly can't beat the DEP-10 for price!!! I do not regret the purchase...would buy again for my kid, if not myself. I'm playing it now and for the foreseeable future! Hopefully, this helps someone with their decision. Thanks!

Para iniciados
Buena relación calidad precio, ideal para principiantes sin tener que gastarse un dineral en modelos de piano eléctrico superiores. De momento funciona muy bien y el sonido es muy realista.

Sturdy and high quality beginner instrument
I got this piano as a beginner wanting to progress and it's perfect for the task! I don't know a huge amount about what makes a good piano yet, but for the affordability this one does everything I need it to do; not too many bells and whistles but sounds and feels high quality and sturdy overall. The voices are easy to change, there are a few effects like reverb and there's a built in metronome which are all easy to use. The volume control is a slider and it can get very loud.I wanted a large piano so I wouldn't have to get used to a bigger one later. This one doesn't comes without a stand so worth considering whether you need it or if you've got a surface to put it it on. It's big. There's a music stand so you can use a tablet/phoneThey keys have a textured finish which is a nice touch. They are also weighted/have some resistance so it feels like a piano rather than keyboard. I've not tried to use it as a MIDI controller yet, but the number of connections available is great. It uses full size (quarter inch) cable connections if you want to use headphones. The only flaw is that mine has one slightly noisy (unmuted?) key.
