Very useful, my son enjoyed practicing and learned a lot. Bought it for a 4th grader.

Nice book
This just arrived today and I haven’t had a chance to use it with my child yet; however, I have looked through it. From what I see, I love this book. Unlike other books that have a section for math, a section for reading, a section for language arts, etc, this has a math practice and reading practice together and the book is arranged by week & day (so week 1 day 1 has a few math problem’s and a reading section. Looks to be maybe 15 - 20 minutes of work a day for the average kid. Enough to maintain skills without feeling like they’re losing their summer break. And much easier than having to flip to different sections of the book to practice different subjects.Update: roughly 3 weeks into using this book, my daughter also loves it as she can grab it and know exactly what she needs to do each day even if I’m busy.As far as some reviews that there’s no lesson teaching the concepts.... no there isn’t, but this book should be a REVIEW of skills they already learned so they don’t forget the skills. I appreciate there not being a lesson / example so I can easily see what my daughter may be rusty on and need some more practice (if there was a lesson / reminder on the page, she’d likely be able to follow it to get the 4 problems correct but not really know how to do it on her own)

So far, so good
We're only a few days in, but so far, the book has been worth it. Due to the limited number of exercises per day, we're supplementing with another math book. I like that this book provides exercises in both math and reading comprehension, two areas in which my son struggles. I also like the explanations of the correct answers in the answer key. However, the website and mobile app are confusing (as other reviewers have stated), so we won't be using those resources.

Would buy again!
As a parent, I like how the book schedules each day of work. Only a couple pages a day, so it takes only 15-20 minutes. Also like the online resources and practice! There are a couple mistakes in the answers so far, so parents do have to review the answers closely.

Oh love it ! Exactly what I was looking for
I bought this for my soon to be third grader and soon to be sixth grader.. it keeps them busy in the summer and they won’t forget what they learned last year. Only 15 minutes a day and they only do two pages a day and it’s structured per week so it has something for them to do for the rest of the summer and it even has online access. Which is wonderful, and the teachers in sign language. They don’t like it but I love it and my third grader loves it to.

Great Middle School Prep
I was stunned that my granddaughter had not learned some of the math in this book. She didn't even have the multiplication table memorized (public school)! We used this book over the summer between 5th and 6th grade and it helped her prepare for Middle School. She protested summer learning, hard, but she has thanked me since she went back to school and was able to keep up in class. (She actually called and thanked me for forcing her to study last summer!) She's now on the honor roll and excelling in all her classes. Proud Grandma here.I did incentivize my granddaughter to spend time learning over the summer, I'm not too proud to use a little bribery. I did tutor her one-on-one, we went over every question and answer that she got wrong together, and it was great bonding time. So the book works, but the patience and attention matter too. The book offers a lot of resources in addition to the workbook, so others may find that helpful too. I highly recommend!

Summer School at home
The Summer Learning HeadStart for 5 to 6 was a great supplement to my student’s virtual school year. My student refused to take part in the summer learning program at school to prepare for the next school year. With this workbook, I was able to have summer school at home. Each weekday night, my student took 15- 30 minutes, reviewed the material, and answered the daily challenges. At the end of the week, my student took weekly practice tests. With the workbook, my student refreshed skills that she had learned, developed new skills in areas that were not covered in school, and improved her self esteem. Just as importantly, the workbook helped me help my student improve. Summer school at home was a win-win for us both!

Summer bridge
My kiddos always complete a bridge book over the summer. Test results have demonstrated how much they lose over the summer. This book serves the purpose and online portion is a plus. I wish the daily work was more than 5 questions. My son hates homework so it has been a good motivation that each day is fast.
