like the Move (Jeff Lynne's unit before ELO) and the ...
All the rare British hard rock singles and recordings from the golden era, 1968-1972. The usual suspects are here, Deep Purple, Yardbirds Uriah Heep and pre-Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac. Missing are Black Sabbath and Led Zep but anyone who purchases this will probably already have ample recordings by those two mainstays of the a British hard rock scene. Some lesser known groups outside the U.K. like the Move (Jeff Lynne's unit before ELO) and the Groundhogs not to mention Hawkwind. Previously unreleased recordings by the likes of Egor and the Velvet Frogs round out this collection of British hard rock rarities and oddities.

Killer comp of mostly lesser known hard-n-heavy bands !
Great bang for buck! 3CD-48 trax. Top notch sound quality. Real nice CD booklet included. Some of the highlights that stand out for me are: Chicken Shack-Going Down, Pink Fairies-Do It, Factory-Time Machine, Deep Purple-Fireball, Gun-Race With The Devil, Sam Gopal (w/Lemmy)-Escalator, a shorter single version of Uriah Heep-Gypsy, Yardbirds (w/Jimmy Page)-Think About It, Fleetwood Mac (w/Peter Green)-Green Manalishi, Taste (w/Rory Gallagher)-Born On The Wrong Side Of Time, The Mooche- killer cover of Hot Smoke and Sassafras, and Little Free Rock-Dream. Solid overall, very few duds. A few things I would have liked to see on this: Jethro Tull- A New Day Yesterday, Something off Status Quo-Dog Of 2 Head , Something off UFO-1, Spooky Tooth-Tobacco Road, Something off Free-Tons Of Sobs, Leafhound-Freelance Fiend, Atomic Rooster-Death Walks Behind You, and Becks Bolero, to name a few, maybe they will do a sequel comp. Bottom Line: An absolute must for collectors !

Highly reccomended
Excellent collection of Heavy Psych from Britain. A good variety of styles. For me, the first disc is definitely the strongest but all are worth a good listen. This has been on repeat in my ipod for two weeks now.Highly reccomend.

Essential If You Were 17 At The Time
I was unemployed but now I've found a job which prompted me to buy this boxset which I've always wanted.I bought secondhand @ £13.21 via Amazon Meerkatplace and I'm so pleased I did.Any compilation that starts with the sound of horses' hooves must be worth buying and the rest doesn't disappoint.Probably the best compilation I've ever bought.Too many highlights to mention - just buy it!

Philip says mindblowing,
although this was my teenage era alot of these bands are either new to me or didn't fit the bill back in the day.Since listening to this set i've bought quite a bit of stuff on the strengh of this, top of the pops for me are the Gorilla's, Deviants, Pink Fairies ( anything with Larry Wallis on guitar ) Wicked Lady and Egor to name but a few. I mirror the first 2 reviews , well packaged, delivered on time highly reccomended. 2hrs on & I'm now looking forward to freak baby 2 to be released any time now, these compilations are a treasure chest of brilliant music. Peace & love from Jonty.

Hedonism at its finest !
So much talent within the bands that "worked " the colleges and clubs , just no comparison with today's feeble efforts .

A treasure
A gem of a collection. Deliberately offbeat and none the worse for that and highly enjoyable and showing the depth of good rock from an era time forgot.
