The advertisement brags this is an American company, but the gauge is still made in China. Technically, any company that wants to import their product here needs to register their company with the government. Voila! An American company!Back to the tool--the individual fingers are a little stiff sliding through the black plastic body. The fingers have a fair amount of friction with their adjacent fingers so sometimes they drag the follower out of position when it should be touching your workpiece. If you have a curved workpiece like a piece of pipe, the fingers can bend laterally instead of pushing back through the body and splay around the pipe instead of follow it exactly.Overall a good tool for a good price so 4 stars. If you demand more precision you will probably have to pay more.

needles are stiff and hard to form object

I recently received my toolx contour gauge. I haven't used it for making cuts, but I put it on some contours around the house. I do like the locking feature. I have read reviews on other gauges without locks, that the pins will move while transporting it . The only issue I noticed thus far, is when measuring a inside corner, some of the pins hung up. Maybe with use, it will loosen up. It seems to be pretty good quality, and seems like it is pretty accurate. I am happy with my purchase.
