Many options for sound, including one that sounds exactly like a window A/C unit. As someone who slept w a window AC unit for many years, the sudden absence of the sound made sleep impossible. This sound machine is amazing and has allowed me to sleep peacefully once again!!

Really impressed, especially for less than $20. You can cycle through all the sounds and there is a light that illuminates to show you which group of sounds is selected. Easy to use. Plus there are multiple shutdown timer options including infinite. Works lovely!!!

I've been using this device for a year, while sleeping. I live in an apartment building and there are neighboring noises at night. I wake less often, when listening to the pink or white noise functions on a low volume (background noise). Even my dog sleeps better. It's compact and easy to use. The timer is not intuitive, but if you read the instructions, it's not hard to figure out. Others have noted that the device has no battery and must be plugged in to operate, but when camping I found it worked great when plugged into a battery bank for phone charging.

I got lazy when purchasing this sound machine and didn't look for all my necessities when buying a new sound machine. Unfortunately, it doesn't fit the bill. Things I need that this doing machine does have: * USB plug - since the AC adapter cords always seem to go bad (PASS) * Adjustable volume, LOUD settings - many I've tried don't get nearly loud enough (PASS) Things this sounds machine lacks: * Power operated by switch or dial instead of button so it automatically comes back on after power outage (FAIL) * Battery back up - in case power goes out and for travel (FAIL) * Automatically switch to battery backup (FAIL) I absolutely love how loud this sound machine is. It's lifted off the floor a bit and the speaker output is on the bottom of it so the sound waves bounce off the hardwood floor and it's super loud. I also like the white noise sound. Some sounds machines have a glassy white noise that's like nails on a chalkboard to my ears. This one has a box fan/hair dryer ish white noise sound that's so much better. I was all set to buy two more for my other kids' rooms and then one night this week, power went out. I did my usual walkthrough of the kids' rooms to put batteries into the sound machines for the remainder of the night only to find out this one doesn't take batteries! Ugh! Off to search for a new one!

Good…but the price can be a bit lower

Considering I paid only $25. for this little box, it's certainly worth the money. What I like: Ease of use, compact size, sound quality is very acceptable, the sound names engraved on the surface are a good way to know what you actually listen to. The timer choices are good, although I don't use this feature often - I usually let my unit On all night long. What I don't like: I find there are only 8 sounds good enough to listen to, which is about the third of all the choices - this is MY taste, of course. I feel the rest of them is not worth listening to. The train is the worst. Also... the lights on top are definitely not too bright, nor disturbing. For people who want to move the unit to other rooms: just get another usb cable. This is really not an issue. Also, most power bars now have usb ports, in which you can connect this unit, without the need of another power supply.

Such a versatile and useful item, and so affordable. Lots of pretty sounds to choose from, but so far the best one that worked for me was Noise #1
