I have wanted a Tilley hat for years. I have a "made in china" imitation from a major Bass chain but the XL never quite fit my 7 5/8 head. It would loosen to a comfortable fit after heat and sweating at the campsite but shrink after drying out. I ordered a new 7 3/4 Tilley to make sure it didn't squeeze my tiny delicate head (yeah right!) and it fits very comfortably with very soft crushable material. We just returned from a 2 week RV trip over to National Seashore in Maryland and an RV neighbor asked me if my old hat was a Tilley. He said he had owned 2 of them and the first one became damaged and after a conversation with the Tilley folks they sent him a brand new one. I've always hesitated at the price of a wonderful Tilley hat but after hearing my camping neighbor's testimony I pushed the add to cart button on Amazon. Love my new Tilley hat!

It's a shame that this high end item was folded over & placed in a flexible parcel. It was not packaged as per the manufacturers instructions - push top down but keep brim flat. It should have been in a box! I hope I can get rid of the crease.

I finally found a wide brim hat style that I like. The Tilley is a good all round hat that fits in no matter what your doing. Festivals, concerts, hiking, fishing or just sitting around camp.I did have somewhat of a challenge finding my correct fit.First I ordered my normal size. It was a little tight. After doing some research I found where they recommend ordering a size up. So just to be safe, I ordered a size up and another 2 sizes up.The one size up was tighter than the regular size that I had to start with. The 2 sizes up was way too big.Not to be discouraged, I ordered another hat, one size up like recommended and this one fit perfect.After returning all the hats that didn't fit, I decided I liked the one I kept so much that I ordered another one in a different color. It fit fine on the first try.Just for those wondering, I normally wear a 7 5/8 and the 7 3/4 Tilley fits perfect.
