Workhorse Pump - Laguna Max-Flo 2400
Most reviews of this pump were positive. Decided to try it out. Have had Sunterra and Beckett pumps before - both burned out in less than 3 months. The Laguna Max-Flo 2400 pump is impressive! I had taken the cage off temporarily in preparation to work inline with a skimmer filter. Before the skimmer was installed, I left the pump in the water open with nothing filtering the intake it while running for a few days. Dumb idea. Didn't check on the pond for a few days and came back to find a large frog had been stuck to the intake on the pump. Well, unfortunately, the frog did not make it and it was pretty grisly. The pump it seemed was shot. It was no longer working. My mistake. A few days passed and I plugged it back in just to see if I could even hear a hum from the motor. To my suprise, it was pumping water at full capacity again and 3 months later, it's still working perfectly. I definitely won't leave the intake uncovered again but the pump surely has passed the test in my book. The pump pushes water very well, but now I can see that for my application, I probably should've gotten the 2900. Just when you think you've got the effect you want, you realize that you'd like more power. Not Laguna's fault. When I upgrade, it will definitely be a Laguna.

Everything I expected
I did a lot of research before ordering the Laguna Max-Flo 2400. Among all the major brands reviewed, this pump was the one that gave the largest water output per watt of electricity. It pumps 2400 gallons per hour using only 100 watts. The nearest best performer was the Fishmate (Any Mate), which pumps 2500 GPH using 113 watts.Aside from its high energy efficiency, the Laguna pump is indeed powerful, quiet and reliable. I have had it for a month now. It has never clogged and never stopped working. It comes with the necessary attachments to connect to three hose sizes: 3/4", 1" and 1 1/4". with clear recommendations to opt for the largest hose diameter. On the negative side, it does not come with a splitter to divert part of its water output to different places, say, a pond filter and a waterfall or a fountain, for example.I am most satisfied with this purchase.

Laguna Max-Flo 2400 waterfall pump is all that...
I bought this pump to replace a Shinmaywa pump that had finally died after about 5 years of continuous service. I was apprehensive about the Laguna since it was so much smaller than the previous pump. It has a replaceable magnetic drive impeller, which was a must have this time around. It seems to do the job just fine, it's much lighter and more compact so it fits much better in the bottom of our 2000 gallon pond. It has no problem pumping the water up the hill to feed the stream, it's about an 8 foot head and the waterfall still looks like a sheet with no gaps in the water.

Terrible Product Quality and No Warranty Support
I have purchased 2 of these pumps. Both broke within the warranty period. The manufacturer - Hagan - does not stand behind their warranty. Do not buy this product or anything else in the Laguna line. Their product specifications sound very good but if they do not stand up to normal use the specifications mean nothing. I see more consumers buy the Tetra line of pumps shown here in Amazon. I will be purchasing them especially since many more customers have purchased them. One big reason is customers' reviews have shown they stand behind their products in a timely manner. for pond with waterfall
After reading numerous reviews on pumps I purchased the Laguna. I have a fairly large backyard pond with a waterfall. I probably should have gone up the the 3000 GPH model but this works very well. It is very quiet and efficient. Installation was extremely simple. I might buy one more for a backup but, according to those who have used them for some time, they seem to last quite a while.

I use this pump for our 1500 gallon Koi pond. We have had one for 3 years and is does a great job. Givin the investment in Koi I just purchased a 2nd pump for backup assuming the 3 yo pump will die sooner or later given it runs 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

Easy to clean
Been there for a year or so, never a problem. Easy to clean, and that thing would sure suck the dog in if he fell in the pond!

Replacement
Old one broke after many years of service- checked various models for output and pwer consumption (and price). This one came out top in my opinion for the size of pond I've got. Its working fine many months later. Recommended. Also fast delivery which was a relief as the pond had no filtration/water flow until this arrived.

A Reliable and Effective Pond Pump
I bought this unit to replace a similar unit which had broken down after 7 years of working 24 hours per day for 9 months of the year in the North of Scotland. I was totally satisfied with the previous unit, and hope to be with this one.
