Family Persimmon Soap (Pack of 2), 0.31 Pounds

This soap works! My hubby showers at least daily and uses a high quality deodorant. He would still develop an odor. He tried this soap and the odor went away. One day he went to give me a hug and I said, “You stopped using the soap.” He had and I could tell by the smell. He explained that the soap was drying his skin. What he does now is he uses his regular soap to shower. Then he takes this soap, rubs some on his hands and applies it to the important areas: back of the neck, armpits, groin, and feet. He then rinses it off. Problem solved….and the soap lasts longer as he is using far less.

This soap is moisturizing and so gentle on my sensitive skin. It has a creamy feel with a luxurious lather, too. I've had a hard time finding a soap that didn't inflame my skin without being so expensive that it hurts to buy and then use it. It also works in washing away that old person, nonenal, smell which is the main reason I bought it to begin with. My husband's skin is even more sensitive than mine and it took a lot of convincing to get him to just try it. It didn't cause a rash on him, which every other new soap has over the 40+ years he's been using the one soap that didn't cause a rash on him and which also does nothing to wash away that pesky old person smell! This soap did that for both of us, it didn't aggravate our skin and it's very affordable. I've been ordering this soap for a couple of years for just myself. Now that it works for my husband too, I'll be ordering twice as much and gladly.

Got this soap because I’m in peri, which comes with a ton of body-odor chemistry changes from hormone fluctuations. I also don’t want to smell like an old person (look up “nonenal smell”). This soap WORKS!SIZEThis persimmon soap is smaller than an average American bar (“Good” soap from Whole Foods pictured on the right for size comparison), but it is the same thickness and lasts a long time. For me, a bar of this stuff lasts more than a year. I’m now on my second order, two years after I bought my first pack.SCENTThe scent is strong and similar to citrus household cleaner. To the average American nose, the scent is a bit unusual. However, it is NOT perfumey (thank god) and does NOT linger on the skin whatsoever. The scent is gone as soon as you rinse the lather off.It leaves my skin smelling 100% neutral and ready for body lotion!VALUEI think this is a great price for a two-pack of soap, and I will continue to buy it as long as it’s available. I can’t believe American brands haven’t caught on to persimmon soap yet!

Smells great. Really works well to get rid of the old people smell. Doesn’t foam up very well and doesn’t last very long. Even so I’m going to buy more. It really does work.

Update: Jan 13, 2024 Holy Moly, this soap works great! I don’t smell like an old person, but I do be smelly sometimes- this soap takes away almost ALL body smells. I have been using it for a week now, and I am really impressed. I smelled my clothes after I took them off (completely expecting some serious stink) and there was nothing- zero smell!Jan 8,2024 I don’t know why they say it smells like persimmon. I’ve eaten persimmons before & I don’t remember them smelling like this. I do not like the smell far as soap goes. It smells like a cleaning agent I use called Comet. I gave it a try last night and the smell doesn’t linger. You do feel clean afterwards. It is a bit expensive for soap, but it was priced low enough to try. It’s about half the size of a regular bar. I think it does a good job. I did notice a decrease in unwanted smells. Everyone was saying how good it smells- they are either liars or have problems with their olfactory systems. Anyways- as far as I can tell, the soap does work, it smells awful, but the smell doesn’t linger on your skin. I did use a nice smelling shower gel soap afterward because I was nervous. I will use up these “2” bars, but I doubt I will buy any more. If I notice anything amazing after finishing a bar I’ll update my review.

Does absolutely zero, nada, nothing re: the nonenal body odor. However, it is a nice soap similar to french-milled soaps I have purchased in the past and it will last a long time. Just would not recommend spending this kind of money on this persimmon soap if you are hoping to combat old-lady nonenal body odor. FYI, I recommend washing hair with Prell of all things, that has helped with my nonenal!

I like the scent though it may not be for everyone. It’s not hard milled so a bar only lasts about 2 weeks with daily use in the shower. It’s not drying.

This soap has a STRONG tannin smell, which isn't surprising as persimmons are rich in tannins. Some people may find this smell off-putting. I found it really strong as I was lathering up and washing my body, however, I didn't notice an unpleasant odor when I was actually clean... It was actually a very mild, pleasant scent.As this soap is high in tannins, it does tighten the skin and make it feel dry right after bathing. I would suggest using different persimmon soap that has moisturizer added if you have very dry or sensitive skin. Just my opinion. My average skin felt very tight right after washing BUT so smooth and soft throughout the day. Still, I personally would use a different soap on the groin and face area unless they are very oily.The bar of soap itself is high quality and of good value. It is nicely milled. It lathers well. I used an African net (kind of like the net loofas) and lathered it up. I see a bar lasting a long time. Definitely value for the money.I will definitely be using this soap in the Summer months here in Virginia, when the heat and humidity bri gs on the funk.
