The North Face Base Camp Sport Duffel, S

I used this bag for a 3 week trip to South America. I was able to fit 7 items of swimwear, 4 pairs of sandals, 6 dresses, 2 pairs of jeans, 2 jumpsuits, light trousers, 2 pairs of denim shorts, a towel, spare handbag, toiletries, cosmetics, sun cream and pretty much my life in this bag. It is great.

I've had the xs for a while now and just received the s. I got the s as a travel bag as the XS is just slightly too small for more than a day or two away.The xs is the perfect work/gym bag - big enough for a full set of gym gear (shoes, clothes, bottle) and a laptop (in a hard case because there are no internal compartments).The S is quite a bit bigger than it looks from the product shots and a lot bigger than the xs. Bear in mind that the largest sizes of these bags are enormous so small isn't that small. The S will likely suit most people for a 3-4 days away, the XS for a night as a day bag.I love the design of these bags after initially thinking they were kind of goofy looking. They wear well and stand up to being thrown about, scuffed, and rained on. The large opening means you can get to anything easily. They have handles all over them and sturdy loops to attach stuff to.One thing I have noticed with the XS is that the shoulder straps slip while wearing - the larger buckles supporting the top of the should straps let the straps slip through little by little. This could probably be fixed with a couple of safety pins or something but it's not really a problem since I'm not wearing it on my shoulders for more than 30 or 40 mins at a time.

This is a perfect carry on for flights, saving so much money not going with hold luggage as you can fit enough in this amazing bag! I’ve just done 2 weeks in Los Angeles off this and plan to do many more trips with it!

There are no handles and in principle you could use the backpack straps as handles, only that these straps tend to detach and are not comfortable for their primary purpose or to use as handles. Very disappointed, ordered last minute thinking I will have a great carry on for a trip only to return this. The bag is also heavy which is unexpected and rather tough, not very easy to fold. I guess the good point is that it does look very water resistant but thats the feature I least care about since the bag is not functional.

Love this bag for its capacity, and compression straps. Hard wearing and well made, like all their other products.Only gripe is the previous model had two handles so you could carry it like a holdall. They're missing on this model with just grab handles at either end. So you either have to put it on a shoulder or shoulders or carry it at one end.

Have the large but wanted something for short trips/ hand baggage. Perfect weekend bag. Easily fit a pair of mens shoes and a fold umbrella along with clothes for different functions over trip. No one looked twice at it on multiple European carriers. And it easily was stowed away even boarding last on a full flight. It could easily deal with enough stuff for a lightly packed week trip.No hand middle straps on this variant but didn't miss them at all. Shoulder straps are very comfy.

Love the bag, very comfortable to carry and keeps everything organised. I use mine for the gym and it fits my boxing kit and makes its it really easy to access having the top loading lid.My only glitch is the shoulder straps that feed through the buckle tend to slip, so when i run to the gym they do become lose quite quickly and have to be regularly adjusted.Other than that though a great bag!

Excellent bag - spacious, comfortable, robust, and good looking too... This duffel/rucksack gets a lot inside it whilst you can still take it as handluggage on flights.
