Great read for kids!
I can really see kids, especially young boys being interested in this book. A lot of adults have heard the story of the jailbreak from Alcatraz, but the author is able to pepper in so many details that I think both kids and parents will find fun or surprising. (For example, the escapees using a modified accordion to use as an air pump for their getaway raft). On top of that the animation style is really cool and offers a way for kids to engage with the story on a deeper level.

content in an easy-to-read book
Christmas Day: Ten year old reading at the table while family visited and cooked. He had to be asked to put down the book for breakfast.

Another great book in this series
This is a really fun series for older kids who enjoy the graphic novel format. There aren't that many true-crime books that are appropriate for kids and still engaging for adults, so these books are filling an important niche. My ten-year-old devoured both titles and is hoping more will be released soon!

5 stars from a 9-year-old
I loved how it wasn't about the crime itself but it was about escaping from the punishment, and I loved how well planned it was. I loved the illustrations and the writing was really good too.
