the installation was easy, just cut the pipe
i still cant believe how well this pump is made. i brought this to replace my pentair whisperflow 3/4 hp. the installation was easy, just cut the pipe, remove old one and connect the new one. its VERY quiet, much quieter than my old pentair before it went bad. it seems to move less water(maybe should had buy 1.5) but after a month of use it doesnt seem to be a problem. for a quarter of price of a pentair, i would def buy again.update:Since it's been a bit over 2 1/2 years i like to give this review a update. The pump still working like new, it has enough power for my pool and it is still very quiet compare to my old whisperflow. want to give a shout out to the company that make this pump, good price without sacrificing quality. i will buy again once if one go out. at this point i will be happy even if it die tomorrow since i got a good 2 1/2 years out of it. consider a quarter of price compare to a known brand i still come out ahead.

only lasted 3 seasons....
Well, a couple of things to consider when you buy this. Firstly, no cord was included with the item, i had to use the old cord from my old pump, 2ndly, this comes with 2" pvc fittings to attach to your hoses - all mine were 1 1/2" , and since no adaptors came with it i had to buy 2 galvanized threaded pipe adaptors to make it work with my old hayward hose fittings, so far no leaks, just make sure to use nylon tape on the threads. even with the no cord and no adaptors, still seemed like a good alternative to the $700 hawyard replacement. it seems to have just as much power if not more than the 1hp hayward pump i had, although i havent tried to vacuum with it yet, i dont anticipate any trouble - i hope. and oh yes there is no power switch which makes it a little inconvenient when trying to backwash, vacuum to waste, or any other reasonable need to switch off the pump to make things easier. i just used a power strip with a switch in line with my timer to make up for this, you will need one rated at least 15A if you do thisUpdate: This Pump only lasted 3 seasons, opened the pool, spent all the money needed for chemicals, new water, and this pump let us down on the first day of this season, NOT HAPPY AT ALL. I understand that a pump like this will not last 20 years that you would expect from hayward, but cmon, basically 9 months of service???? So now my water will turn green before i can install a new pump, wasted money all the way around, not to mention disappointed kids and a frustrated dad on Fathers day

Not Bad For the Price!
I was skeptical after reading some of these reviews, but needed to replace a Hayward 1HP pump that seized up over the winter. A new Hayward replacement was close to a thousand bucks. I saw this for $220 and thought that even if I can get a summer or two out of it, it would be worth it. It was an easy enough install, I just had to add some fittings to accommodate the 1 1/2" fittings that the old pump used to take, as this has 2". Old pump was running at 115v. This was very easy to switch over from 230 (there's just a dial in the motor that you have to turn). Connected pump, runs a lot quieter than I expected, and water pressure is the same, if not even a little better, than the Hayward I had there before. I'll keep this review posted if I run into any issues with its longevity, but so far, so good!

Great pump... for a month
The media could not be loaded. The pump was great for about the first 5 weeks, but then I noticed a loud humming noise, which only got louder after a another day or two. The suction seemed to be slightly diminished and the motor was very hot to the touch. The only reason I’m giving this pump two stars instead of one is because it was replaced at no charge in about a week. Hopefully the new one will last longer than a month and a half...Edit after over a year with the new pump. The replacement is still working great. No issues with it at all. I’m upgrading my rating to 4 stars… If it wasn’t for the first failed pump, I would give it 5.

This is a quiet & powerful motor and is exactly as described. No issues at all.
This motor was wired up and installed by myself as I had to make a couple trips to the plumbing store before I got the connections from my pool like I needed them and I was surprised at the suction power when I first turned it on. It was really quiet and has been running now for a couple weeks and no issues. The motor comes preset for 220 volts (which is more efficient) and I did remove the end cap from the motor and switch it to 110 volts because that is what my old pump was wired for. I did have to get silicone to seal the opening in the side of the motor where the electrical wires go in to help prevent water getting inside.

Bought as a replacement for a 1HP Sta-Rite pump
Harris H1572747 ProForce 1 HP Inground Pool Pump 230v.Normally I would of just bought the parts or a new motor to fix the Sta-Rite pump. They are good pumps that are well built and last a long time. But I am out of the country and the Sta-Rite pump failed, motor shaft bearing failure. So until I can get home to rebuild the old pump, I leaned on some friends to install this 1HP Harris pump. Was not able to use the 2" coupler's that was included because of the way my old pump was plumbed. But the short union sections that the old pump was using fit right into the new pump and only had to put a small block of wood under the pump to make up the height difference. A little pipe thread compound, connect the wires and it fired right up. I am told it is just as quite as the old pump, maybe even a little more quieter. The family thinks it is doing a better job with better water flow than the old pump also. I have a rain cover that was used with the old motor that is now being used with the new Harris pump motor. I recommend using a motor cover, we get a lot of rain in Florida. This review is fresh and new so if things change or if the pump fails in a short period of time, I will update this review. So far so good, it seems like a good purchase and we will see how it does for the rest of this swim season.Pictures are the old pump, and new pump after installation.
