Incredibly sharp and sturdy
This knife. Wow. I’m in love. Okay it’s just a knife, but when you have spent years using a knife that shreds its way like a saw through your morning bagel leaving crumbs everywhere, and then use a knife that glides practically by itself leaving no sign of crumbs, you can see why you might fall in love. This is an incredibly sharp and solid knife. The handle fits comfortably in your hand. It has some heft but is not too heavy. It’s a beautiful knife that will probably last the rest of my life.I read tons of reviews about bread knives all over the internet and why people recommend various ones. At first I was looking for a left handed one, but they are rare. This company had one but the reviews were few and not as positive as the ones for the right handed knife. So I took a chance. It was the right choice. Cuts beautifully with either hand. Did I mention that I love this knife?

New favorite brand
I took a chance on this brand as I didn't want to pay the high cost of a German made Wusthof brand knife since I don't use a bread knife very often. The comfortable handle shape resembles the Wusthof design. This Taiwan made knife has a German high-carbon steel blade. It is super sharp, sturdy and I am super happy with how it performs. This is now my favorite brand when I want a great knife without paying Wusthof prices.

Excellent upgrade
After researching a ton of bread knives, I decided on the Mercer Culinary for a number of reasons, including price and the overall high ratings of the brand itself. Now granted, I'm coming from a many year's old bread knife from an inexpensive J.A. Henckels set that has never been great, but I still think this knife is outstanding. The weight and balance feel great and it's easy to hold. It feels well-made and I was super excited to see how well it cut the first loaf of crusty bread -- the slices retained the shape and the knife cut through them like butter. It has cleaned up well and beautifully cut many types of bread.I'm extremely satisfied with this knife and am only disappointed that I waited so long to buy it.

***PLEASE HEED THIS ADVICE***
USE WITH CARE!!!! This is by far and away the sharpest knife I have ever owned. I don't mean "Ginsu Knife" sharp, I mean if you're going camping, you could use this knife to cut down a small tree or debone an angry bear. Be very careful washing because it will flay your sponge, be very careful cutting vegetables because it will flay your finger - I know because the blood loss was concerning at first but I rubbed dirt in the wound and I was fine. Seriously, take caution while using it - if you're not paying attention, you may end up in the ER missing a finger. Or an arm...

Good knife excellant bread cutter
I thought it would be better balanced but it’s off by just a bit. Comfortable and easy to hold if you have a small hand. Cutting blade is excellant and cuts through even the hardest of crusts.

This is the only bread knife I want to use until the end of time
As soon as I opened this knife I spent about ten minutes cutting thinner and thinner slices of bread just because I could. For years I've been gracelessly sawing irregular inch-or-more-thick slices off my loaves of crusty sourdough with a grocery store knife, and now I wish I'd just bit the bullet and bought a nice knife sooner. I had to budget for this one but it was worth it. Maybe a really REALLY expensive knife would cut even better, but this one is simply perfect for my household uses.

Great bread knife
Like many people, I started making sourdough bread during the quarantine. My old bread knife was dull, and it couldn't handle the more substantial crust. We couldn't cut thin slices, and it was tearing the bread. This knife is fantastic. It goes through the bread like butter. I can cut paper thin slices if I wanted to. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Definitely buy a guard for the blade to keep it sharp and safe.
