Better for older kids and adults
This is a fun build but it is not a beginner model, in my opinion.

This is a monster
First off, this thing is pretty big. I was surprised by how large it was. It also wasn't nearly as sturdy as you might expect. My child tripped on this and it practically exploded, blowing pieces across our entire living room. Tears ensued. We haven't bothered to rebuild it yet, because it was hard to put together. To that point, I was also, unpleasantly in this case, surprised by how difficult it was to put together. I was assembling it with a 7 year old who has done MANY plastic brick building sets (you know the ones that I'm talking about) and we had a hard time doing it together. One part was that the bricks were often difficult to snap into place. The directions also had fewer steps than I would have liked. While a 300 page instruction book is PROBABLY overkill, a four page instruction book is probably not quite sufficient either. Finally, I was a little surprised that the hull of the boat was a single piece. Most of what you're building is the subdeck and then on the deck. Once these parts are added, it doesn't float. It takes on water like the Titanic. And getting all of the water back out is a bit of a pain. (Especially if you don't take it apart.)As a side note, this is also compatible with standard FOUR letter plastic brick building sets. The bricks from this are not quite as homogenous and well-constructed, but you'll generally not find much difference between the two and there is a significant cost savings here. If you're buying enough of these plastic brick building sets, you'll find a lot of value in this cost difference.

Bit tricky
My little cousin loves boats. We thought this would be a nice set for him. He was so happy when he received it too. However, this seems a little more intricate than it looks. It’s targeted for ages 6 and up but even I had trouble with it. Some of the legos I had to remove with a knife because it just felt like they didn’t belong. But it does seems like so much fun. Bring many pieces and you can make so many things in the side. Includes the ship, helicopter, submarine, reef, shark, kyanite etc. It’s a nice toy overall

My nine-year-old is crying after spending half of a Saturday trying to put this together.
This is what the thread looks like that is supposed to be used as a rope. You have to thread it through two tiny holes, and it just phrase every single time. Spend your money on a real Lego set. This is a very cheaply made expensive set.

My 10 year old LOVES; compatible with Legos
I ordered this set for my 10 year old son, and he absolutely loves it. The pieces are indistinguishable from actual Legos, and integrate seamlessly if desired. He likes the level of detail, and has had no issues following the instructions to independently assemble the pieces by himself. The instructions are also like official Lego, with numbered bags and corresponding, illustrated pages. I cannot speak to the buoyancy, as we haven't tried it in water, but can say the quality of the set is on par with Lego. I am extremely happy with this "Lego" set, and would not hesitate to order from this company again.
