The media could not be loaded. Got this as a Christmas gift for my husband and he absolutely loves it. Took it on vacation with him to the beach and had fun with some sand. Operates well and is good quality with a reasonable price.We have a smaller cheaper excavator for my daughter so she calls this the daddy excavator lol

This toy is very well made and has quite a bit of power for being mostly plastic; The usb charging cable that comes with it seems useless because the battery in the excavator is over 7 volts and most usb sources are 5 volts so you could never get the battery up to full charge with it, I didn't give the durability more than 3 stars because it's too early to tell how it will hold up: Nice toy and should be a lot of fun for any kid: The toy has 15 channels, which means it can do 15 separate movements, including load a toy truck with dirt, but I would not recommend playing with dirt or sand and opt for something cleaner and lighter like maybe legos or toy cars

- Very impressed with the run time. My son has played with it (indoors) for more than an hour and it keeps going.- It weighs about 3 pounds with batteries. The ad says it weighs 6 pounds (perhaps a shipping weight). Either way, in part I bought this excavator because it said it was heavy and I thought that meant substantial. It's not.- The ad also says "Die Cast". Most associate that term with metal. Looks like some of these units came with a metal bucket but ours did not. It is ABS plastic. The excavator body is almost entirely plastic except for a few small parts.- I cannot imagine this toy lasting if it is used outside, in sand / dirt on a regular basis. Does not seem built well enough to handle that.- The included battery pack was not charged when we received it. It was very tough for our son to wait for it to be charged so you may want to hold off showing to your kids before the battery is charged. It's packaged separately on the very bottom of the styrofoam packaging so it can easily be removed and charged without disrupting the other packaging your child may want to open for themselves.- The battery pack, to my surprise, was NiCad. Not lithium-ion or NiMh. I was mostly surprised because I haven't seen NiCad anything in years. Lithium ion is expensive, so that makes sense. NiMh has more capacity than NiCad but doesn't like to be discharged fast. I'm guessing this toy doesn't discharge the batteries fast enough to *require* NiCad but I need to read more on that.- The battery pack charger is a USB charger. Charge times are *very* long (more than 2 hours).- The bucket on this excavator has a bit limited of a range when clasping objects or holding material you don't want to spill. I wish it closed tighter than it does.- More later ...

I just received this excavator yesterday and have had some operating time to find out how it works. Seeing as how i work with the real machines every day in my line of work, i was skeptical to say the least. This machine became available through amazon warehouse and i decided to give it shot, and im glad i did. Movements are very realistic and i felt like i was on the job moving material. Its winter here so i put some popcorn in a bowl and loaded out of that into my 4 and a half year old sons rc dump truck. We had an absolute blast doing this in our livingroom. I was nervous after reading some of the reviews but i believe this is a great toy for the cost. Without traveling around much, I got about 45 minutes to an hour of play time off a fully charged battery. I purchased 2 more batteries through amazon for 18.00 when i bought this so that will be more than enough playtime. The only negatives i found was that the bucket could curl in a bit more, when traveling it seems the left track is slightly faster so it slowly turns right, and the batteries take 2-3 hours to fully charge. Ive yet to see how it handles sand and dirt but it seems like itll do fine. The best advice i could give is that if you are thinking about purchasing this, go online and watch some videos of it in action. There are plenty out there and will give you a good idea if this machine will do what you are looking for. Happy excavating!!!

My 10 year old son wanted this excavator after he saw the video online. When we received it, it would not work after the first battery recharge. I contacted the seller and they replaced the battery pack with a higher current version which has worked great with longer battery life. The next day the remote on/off switch got jammed and my son broke it trying to make it work. The seller then replaced the remote in a couple of days and it has been working good since then. In summary, the design is great, very realistic, but the quality needs some work and the customer service is excellent.

I bought this toy, yes, I am older, but I had finished a heavy equipment class and wanted to "practice" at home. When the product arrived I had fun till the battery drained. I charged the battery in preparation to drive the toy into my instructors office. The next morning as I sat in the classroom, I plugged the battery in and started to sync the remote when all of a sudden smoke appeared from the "engine" compartment (aka battery). At first I thought "cool, it has an exhaust feature" but when I opened the compartment I had the wires from the motor to the battery melting!!!I reached out to the seller and after few emails and pictures, the seller was willing to send me a new one, free of charge. Seller assured me that he/she would research with the manufacture to find out if other defects similar to mine had happened. It was so refreshing to have a seller be willing to work with me on this.
