Product Support from NEWTRY was Good
The remote control was not working when my product was delivered.Product support from NEWTRY was prompt, considering probably a 12 hour time difference between me in the U.S. and them in China. The problem was corrected by their emailed instructions on how to re-do the communication "pairing" between the wireless remote control and the winch. This did require that open the winch case to get to circuit board. That was easy to do.Works fine now.The manual is very brief and with errors in English.NEWTRY confirmed the manual is in error in stating the wireless remote uses infrared (IR) signals. No, it uses radio frequency (RF).The manual could be better in English editing and also should include guidance on restoring the communication "pairing" as well as how to install (maintenance information) the supplied motor carbon brushes when the original ones wear out.Now that I have been inside, it looks well built. I suspect the noise comes from the gear box and not the electric motor. But the main point here is that product support was available promptly and they seemed very eager to please. This winch made in China is available from other sellers and in different colors. It does not seem to be a product exclusive to the company NEWTRY.As far as I could find through internet searches, this is the only wireless controlled winch available.

See below in review
The hoist appears to be sound as far as design, quality, and operation is concerned. However it is very noisy and has a very discerning burnt electrical smell immediately coming from it the second you operate it.Asking a question on the Amazon open forum about these issues the reply was this was normal and not an issue which I am taking exception with. I think it should not emit an odor nor be so noisy you cannot speak in a normal tone over it.

It is light and convenient and did the job of lifting 800 lbs
I give this product a 1 because it worked for one day. The next day it sparked and burnt up when I tried to lower the hook with no load on it. I would like to find a winch that is light like this one but is industrial duty.

Reliable Every Time It’s Needed
I’ve been using this hoist for a few months now and am very pleased. I’ve attached one end to a tree and the other to a rope wrapped around dead bushes to rip them out of the ground. I’ve strung it between a fence post and my riding lawnmower stuck in the mud to pull it out. I’ve also actually used it as a hoist to lift a 600 lb object out of the bed of my pickup and set it softly on the ground. Next task I plan on using it for is to lift hay bales up to the hat loft. That will be a good test of its endurance!Overall, I’ve been extremely pleased with this hoist and would order another if the need arose.

Straight Up Chineasum Garbage
Honestly, who calls their product "new try" obviously it implies that the old try didn't work out very well. While the hoist did lift, everything about it as far as its control system is absolutely garbage. I hit the automatic limit switch once (and not very hard) and it fried the internal circuitry, from that point on---basically thinking that down was up and up was down. Obviously this less than intuitive control system was annoying until it decided just to die on a job while I had several CMU up in the air. Only used it a few times and now out $250. Basically this thing lifts, but the control system is garbage. Buyer beware. On the flip side, I hate to see what the American made McMaster-Carr product costs.Other than that, was an absolute lifesaver on several jobs, as I said right before it quit, glad I bought it, wish I would have spent more on a quality product---this is not the hoist for you.

Initial comments after first receiving product
Haven't used the winch for intended use yet, but have 3 initial comments at this time:1) Thought that the remote control was missing but seller told me to look in the foam packing (their response was very quick). Physically a very small remote control. DID NOT COME WITH BATTERY - BATTERY IS AN UNUSUAL SIZE AND NEED TO LOCATE WHERE TO PURCHASE - THE PRODUCT SHOULD COME WITH A BATTERY.2) The unit's gears are extremely noisy. Makes me worry how long it will last before failure. Suggest that they lubricate the gears with a heavy grease to lower the friction noise.3) As other have mentioned in their reviews, the cable takes about a second to stop after letting go of the Down or Up button, therefore you need to anticipate this and let go of the button in advance since the cable travels maybe 2 inches more before stopping.Hope to update review after using unit for some time.

Worked great
Used this winch to make a small crane to lift beams on a porch addition. Worked great. I only wish the remote control antenna was more sturdy. The remote made it so I could put beams up by myself.

Performs as stated and does a great job, but it has its limitations
This unit does exactly what it says, although I would question long term performance for outdoor use.A 16 foot cable is not gonna get you very far . Thus , you will need extra cables. Pulling something 50 feet up a hill you would have to play the game of Pull 16 feet, re-extend, pull another 16 feet, re-extend… etc… The plastic casing at the cable access/retraction hole is no match for the high tension cable. The wire insulator for the controller pulled away from the connector on day one. Don’t expect it to last more than a couple of seasons.

very expensive toy!
We were looking for a portable hoist for our shop and decided to test one at a price of several hundred dollarsPros: Cable seems strong enough for ½ ton and it comes with a fixed holding point to be mounted on a ceiling/beam. It has 3 different control modes, though good luck with the wireless controlCONS:- It is not approved for use in Canada (no cUL or CSA certifications), not even for USA.- Remote control comes with no batteries, which is not unusual but it uses a small battery that is not mentioned anywhere in the manual. Of course, it is not FCC tested.- Gloves and sling provided are unusable in a shop. Who is going to hang ½ Ton from a white (what rating is that??!) sling, made of what seems very soft material.- Upper limit sensor is not always aligned with cable.- Manual is in English but the control unit does not have arrows up/down but some sort of Chinese symbols- Cable speed is 4 m/min or 13 ft/min, so does take a while to extend the 7 m of cable.Even if you forget about the unusable wireless control or that is not certified for Canada, it is way too expensive for the features that you pay for. There are better alternatives in the local market
