Not 38s--37s at best.
Even run on very wide rims, they measure out at 37.1mm at max pressure. If they were true 38s, they'd measure more like 39 on my rims, I think. (Don't be confused by the 40 in the dimensions, they are supposed to be 38). I'd have considered sizing up had I known. It feels like a bit of a cheat to claim a lower weight. Otherwise, they are great.

Several holes in sidewall
Stay away. Same reported problem as others- brand new tubeless tire came with holes in the sidewall. Some fairly large, numerous other pin holes. Tire sealant can only do so much. Because I didn't mount the tire right away I'm outside the return window. Lesson learned.

Exceptional road and hardpack performance, questionable durability
I LOVE the performance, particularly on pavement and hard packed dirt. As you would expect, it slips and slides in mud, but clears quickly since there isn't much tread to speak of. The ride quality is exceptional: a smooth supple feel, minimal rolling resistance and quick acceleration for a tire this size. It's the faster tire I've ridden on pavement that still works on gravel roads and single track. If you ride mostly rougher gravel and single track, I'd recommend something tougher with more tread. I'm running the 35s and they are probably closer to 38mm wide on my American Classic MTB Race rims.Tubeless setup was reasonably easy. Bead is tight initially but once it's on, sets up reliably with some soapy and a blast from a CO2 cartridge (I've even got the bead to seat on 2 using a floor pump). I use 2 oz of Stans initially and add about an ounce every 2 -3 months. Holds air about as well using tube and I've never flatted from a puncture.I've gone through 2 pair in a year and half and am now moving on to different tires. While I love the ride quality, these are expensive tires that wear quickly and are not very sturdy. On the rear, the tread down the center is gone after about 1000 miles (not a big issue, could probably still run a 1000 miles). I've a number issues:My first front tire developed a wobble after about 200 miles due to casing separation under the tread. Schwalbe quickly replaced that one under warranty.Rear tire blew off the rim while parked, about 12 hours after I replaced the sealant. That tire had about 1500 miles on it and I had inflated it slightly above max for the rim seat (55 psi on 50 psi max rim) while re-seating it. Blew out before being ridden (thankfully not while riding).Got a tear in the sidewall of another tire at about 1800 miles (previous front tire I had rotated to the rear).Had another casing separation on a rear tire with about 800 miles it.Switching to Panaracer Gravel Kings.

Easy tubeless setup
I bought a pair of the 35's and they were pretty easy to mount, and they both popped onto the rim the first time I tried using only soapy water. One of the tires leaked in two spots through the sidewall, but after I added sealant it held pressure.
