Perfect replacement filter
I bought this to replace a DuPont whole house filter that started to leak. No idea what caused the leak after going through several O-rings, so I decided to replace the entire unit.Installation took me about 45 minutes to an hour because I needed to cut some of the copper and fit the unit.On the inlet side I have a soldered MIP copper fitting, and on the outlet side I used Watts Aqualock brass fitting which was extremely simple. The unit is solid. I like the clear housing so that I can see exactly how much sediment is in the cartridge and not guessing with a non-transparent one.I was intimidated at first (no idea why as I had installed the first filter, a water softener, and a water heater previously), but this was super easy and I feel a good value.

Performs well, solid feel and very fair price for the quality
Paired this with two sediment pre filters. First one is 100 micron, then 40 micron, then into the Culligan. I'm using a 5 micron in the Culligan. As you can see, l have well water with lots of rust and clay sediment. I figured l better triple team the rust to KO it once and for all. Mission accomplished and at a very economical price. As you can see all appliances are new: new pressure tank, pressure tank switch, new brass tee, new check valve, new PEX tubing, new gauges, shut-off valves, water softener, Hot water heater, thermal expansion tank, all new! I bought a fixer upper home that was unfortunately neglected and the rust and sediment literally ruined everything. But that's all in the past now, great days ahead. Enjoy your Culligan water filter, l know l do!

A couple if issues with product quality but functions properly
Installing the (2) 3/4 compression fittings into the filter head required a significant amount of force. I am 100% certain the fittings are not cross-threaded. I triple checked the fittings during installation to ensure they are not cross-threaded. Poor quality of the threads in the filter head I determined. Both fittings did seat properly (with 2 wraps of teflon tape on fitting threads) on the first attempt without any leaks. I'm just surprised at the amount of force required to fully seat the fittings. The bypass valve on the filter head will NOT rotate. The bypass valve is permanently stuck in the "filter" position. Manufacturer instruction's state the bypass valve could be difficult to rotate due to shipping across several different climate zones. On my particular unit, I was hesitant to force the valve to rotate as it is made of plastic. I'll shut off the water to the filter assembly when changing the filter. I also removed the spun polypropylene filter and installed a carbon filter as my goal is to remove the Aesthetic Chlorine Taste & Odor from our water. I lubricated the O-Ring with Molykote 111, as it is food and beverage safe, in hopes of avoiding future issues removing the filter housing. Overall, the unit is installed, functions properly and zero leaks. I'd have rated the unit 5 stars if the bypass valve were fully functional.

Peace of Mind for very little effort
Why buy this?: I live in an area that has wonderful water that is very clean and tastes good. I put this filter in my home because my house sits at the low point in the system, and during the winter months when they have to shut the above ground lines down, I'm also the end of the line for the system. Every water system will have valves, etc. rust and even biological contaminates in them. This filter and housing are perfect for removing those particulates and helps with scaling in appliances.Does it work?: Yes it does. I have no more particulate getting caught in the screen for my washing machine for example. It didn't reduce the water pressure in my home either. I saw that as a concern while researching whole house water filters and it did not. I have a pressure reducer coming into the house as well, that I installed the filter after in the water line, and no change in pressure.Easy to install?: Could be. I watched the install video on Amazon and read the directions. What can make the install super easy is two things.1. Buy SharkBite fittings. They have them on Amazon. Just make sure you buy the correct ones. Humans in hardware stores are great at finding the right ones for you. They are a bit pricier than standard fittings but well worth it. I put the SharkBite fittings on the filter housing first, so I had plenty of room (I installed the filter in a crawl space) and I could make sure the threads weren't crossed. Lastly, with SharkBite connections make sure you measure the distance between the connections on the filter twice (subtracting for the depth where the pipe slides into the connector) before cutting your water line.2. Choose a spot in the line where you can give yourself a little room to play with. Then you basically slide the filter in place on the line.Prep took 10 minutes and install too 15. Zero issues, the easiest plumbing work I have ever done. The fives stars for the flavor rating are for the water, the filter and housing taste awful.

Well made
I initially was going to return this product as it started having a small leak/seepage from under the selector handle itself. Fortunately I decided to just disassemble it. One screw under the cap that removes the pressure release red button, then 2 screws on top of the handle once you remove the middle of the handle cover. Not sure what the issue was, but there is 3 o-rings that would be replaceable, but after applying some additional silicon lubricant and reassembling, its working perfectly.

Piece of junk
The water filter arrived in a very damaged box, as if it had been returned repeatedly. The unit is well made, except the four mounting holes that attach to the bracket were not threaded. Secondly, no bolts included with filter. Most everything I order from China(pumps, sheds, compressor, many tools, many cameras, headphones, tv's have been perfect. This Culligan product is made in America, pathetic, that some truant from life couldn't thread the fittings. Save your money. "made in America"- the alarm bells start ringing, red flags go up, and no one seems to care. If I ran that company the employee would be fired.
