Lot of information, easy to read
The style/language is not too academic or difficult to follow. But it is logical, and you get a ton of great information. Highly recommend if you are in this field or a related one.

This book is a perfect introduction to ABI as well as geo-spatial analysis
Activity Based Intelligence: Principles and Applications is a remarkable book. Not just because it is a book on ABI; there have been classified documents written on ABI over the last few years. It is remarkable because its spans the breadth of this wide ranging and often misunderstood subject. From the art of analysis to cutting edge technology; from the history of ABI to a vision of the future; from theory to practice, this book covers the waterfront. And it’s approved for public release. And it was written by individuals who are truly practitioners, people who have applied ABI in the real world and developed technology to support it at a renowned defense contractor. In a word - “remarkable. This book starts with the history of ABI from its wartime origins to its reshaping of the Intelligence Community. The authors introduce the foundational principles of ABI, the “four pillars” and provide illustrations and explanations for the each. This upfront clarity provides much needed grounding in multiple concepts and terms, ensuring that the later portions of the book are completely understandable. The middle of the book clearly and cleanly covers the application of the pillars. It exposes the reader to new concepts, such as “discreteness”, “transactional analysis” “graph based analysis”, and “incidental collection”, which are fundamental to the execution of ABI. There are chapters which delve into collection philosophies, algorithm development, and the use of Big Data. The authors have even seamlessly incorporated several chapters written by subject matter experts, in order to authoritatively present certain applications. Throughout the book, each chapter is written in a completely digestible manner ensuring that these concepts are understandable even to someone whose first exposure to these concepts occurs with this book. Finally, it provides concrete examples of how ABI might have been used for certain newsworthy events, such as the DC Sniper and the loss of Malaysian Airlines flight 370.The book concludes with a vision of the future for ABI, technology, and the Intelligence Community. This book is a perfect introduction to ABI as well as geo-spatial analysis, both of which are rarely discussed outside of the classified environment. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to understand some of the ground breaking work to which the ABI pillars have contributed. It is an ideal text book for Universities having a course of study in Geographic Information Systems or Sciences.A truly remarkable book

Essential modern reference for advanced data analytics
While it's certainly a fantastic reference for the ABI practitioner, this book also happens to be a fantastic reference for any data analyst. There are several Chapters (especially in the middle of the book) that offer a superb overview of techniques that are applicable to big data, analysis, visualization, modeling, and prediction. I really appreciated the illustrative examples which are all easy to follow. This is a very well written book that makes an engaging read that's chock full of interesting historical references and clever insights.

The new paradigm
This is a fantastic book and a unique resource since the unclassified literature on ABI is limited. Though the book only deals with the military and security domain, I believe there is a great deal to be learned and applied to the civilian world within this book.
