I like that I can use these to handle food and wet items. They have good heat tolerance, I use them in my pizza oven that can get cranking up really hot. I can use these gloves when reaching in, or handling small items without difficulty. I can grab sticky or saucy food items without difficulty. However, these have poor insulation, so if you are moving large hot metal objects around like cast iron skillets, you will want a different set of gloves. Anything pressed up against these cloves will easily conduct through and they will offer very little protection.

These operate as you'd expect. They protect your hands from the heat when near the fire. They won't work forever, so don't be a stooge, and they progressively get hotter once you've removed your hand from the fire, so again, don't be a dolt and remove the gloves after use to make sure you don't slow cook your mandibles. But if you have a semblance of intellect, need to put your hands in or near very hot things, like fire, these gloves will help. Again, if you are an imbecile, you will not be saved by these gloves.

The BGE can really hurt you if you forget to "burp" it because flames can leap out when a rush of oxygen is allowed to fuel the fire. With these gloves my arm and hand have been protected when I failed to remember to burp the grillupon opening the lid.After an experience with fire leaping out one seldom forgets the burping process.Notwithstanding, I am very happy to have these gloves when grilling with charcoal.

I cut off the cuffs to make them a bit easier to get on and off. They are easy to clean by wearing them and washing your hands with them on. I bought another pair which I use in the fireplace when adding wood, but not handling burning wood!

These definitely don’t protect from the heat as well as we thought they would
