Functional, fun tester.
This tester works as designed for checking your grip strength. Squeeze as hard as you can and get a measurement in pounds or kg. Try both hands and see if one hand is stronger than the other. As we age, its important to keep your grip strong - get a set of grip exercisers and use this measure tester to check your progress. There are charts available online that will tell you the average grip strength based on age and sex. See if you can build up to that, or see how much better your grip is than the "norm". For example, I am 61 and can pull 135lb. According to the charts, that makes me in the top 10% for my age.

Unsure how to consistently get accurate readings to track progress
Hard to tell how accurate this is. One day I grab it and it's 120 lbs, the next day I am gripping around 155. It might be user error but I'm not sure how to get an accurate reading. It's consistent though just not day to day. Since it's adjustable, you can change at which part of your fingers you measure your grip from so it's hard to compare strength. I bought this to bring to work and i've seen as high as 170lbs to as low as 80 lbs which gives me confidence it works but unsure how to get consistently accurate measurements to track progress.

A big help...eye opener
Easy to use or adjust for any size hand or fingers. Display, also easy to reset, see clearly, and use. I have the average size hands of an 81 year old female... after adjusting, fits fine. Had unit several months now, and no indications it doesn't measure grip strength correctly. Never had it calibrated... but it's consistent in it's readings Unit readings made me aware, to what degree my grip strength had declined. Being able to actually, see current numbers, I knew I needed to increased wrist/hand/finger workouts. Over the next few month, measurements with this unit would consistently show the nice increase. Actually being able to see current numbers, was enough incentive to add additional exercises for easily targeted, specific areas. Inexpensive, easy to use, gives useful info. At this point, I can recommend.. for anyone. Male, Female... young or older...

Great product and surprisingly accurate!
This dynamometer is a great option for someone looking to test, or keep track of, their grip strength! It is incredibly easy to use, with only 2 buttons for controls: one to turn it on or off, which doubles as a switch between lbs and kilos, and one to reset the number. Also, for its relatively low price, it is surprisingly accurate. I tied a 25lb plate to it to test it out, and it read as 24.4lbs. Now keep in mind, these plates are notorious for being slightly inaccurate, so I tested it again, this time tying it to a 20lb dumbbell, and it read at 19.8lbs. So I can confidently say that the reading you get is very close to your actual strength, at most 10lbs off when reaching higher weights. One of my favorite things about this item is how comfortable it is! Unlike other dynamometers on the market, with hard plastic or silicon grips, this one has a comfortable rubber grip, which doesnt hurt my hand at all. I will hurt from exhaustion before the grip hurts me! Overall this is a great product and I would recommend it to anyone, as it has many uses, from a conversation starter to a strength tracker!
