Simply Great Cookbook
My wife and I love cooking. We initially borrowed this book from an Indian colleague with the intent to copy down a couple of the recipes. After cooking recipes from the book 3 nights in a row where all 3 turned out amazing, we quickly decided to just go ahead and buy the book. Five years later, we still make at least one recipe per week from this book and bought copies for relatives and friends who enjoy Indian food. We highly recommend this cookbook.

Looks nice, but missing recipes for required “curry pastes”
I admit I haven’t made anything from this yet. The book was a gift. However, in perusing all the recipes, I noticed many include “curry paste”, “spicy curry paste”, and other pastes. There are no recipes for making these pastes in the book, nor any discussion of what these pastes are or where to get them. For this reason, I feel like I’d have to skip all those particular recipes.

My Favorite
This is one of my favorite cookbooks. I went 35 years with never having eaten Indian Food. Once I tried it, I was hooked. This book lets me bring some of those amazingly delicious flavors to my own kitchen! The descriptions and tips in the book are great. (i.e. What is ghee? Where to find this or that spice, etc.) Great find!

Practical and fuss-free recipes
I found this book at a chain bookstore in the bargain aisle and was quite amazed at the vast array of recipes, most of which are illustrated in full-color photographs. This is very useful as the cook is able to visualize how a particular dish is supposed to look. Most of the recipes call for ingredients that can be either found at a regular grocery store here in the States [mostly in the Asian aisle] or at Asian grocery stores which are quite plentiful here in the States, depending on where one lives].The recipes are divided into sections:soupsappetizersfish dishesshellfish dishespoulty dishesmeat dishesbalti dishesvegetable main dishesrice and lentil dishesvegetable side dishessaladsrelishes and chutneysbreadsdesserts and drinksThere is also an index at the end of the book. Besides traditional Indian dishes, there is also a good representation of South-East Asian Cuisine [Malay, Thai], and Chinese. All in all, this is a value buy for the number of recipes one gets.

Awesome Cookbook
I have never cooked Indian before and bought this cookbook on the recommendation of my friend, who owns it. It's fantastic! The recipes are well explained, the pictures are great, and there is much variety in this book. This book is an excellent introduction to Indian cooking, within 5 days of owning this book I made a feast based on the recipes for some friends and dinner was a hit! I highly recommend this.

Best Indian cookbook on the market
By far. I'm a cook, and love Asian foods of all kinds. This cookbook's recipes are only is foolproof, but allow me to deviate from the original recipes with great success. So it's not only full of great, authentic, restaurant-quality meals, but it's like a primer for cooking Indian foods.

My favorite Indian Cookbook
This is my favorite of Shehzad Husain's cookbooks. The recipes are, as of yet, all delicious and taste very "authentic" (as validated by one of my best friends who is an instructor for Indian Cooking). Has a great variety of recipes from meats, veg, Indian pickles, side dishes, etc. Definitely a great book if you can find a copy, you won't be disappointed!
