Great Choice. Good value and tough.
This was a two year old boys favorite Christmas gift. He still uses it all the time even after 4 months to sing with music videos. I actually got him two, one for his house and one for ours since he's here 4 days a week. These have been fantastic. They have taken a TON of abuse and still work. One of the microphone holders did break, it's not flimsy, but 2 and 3 year olds can be really, really tough on stuff. Just duct taped the mic to the stand and it still works. Volume for the mic gets loud enough. Don't use the built-in music. Great buy and great gift.

Mic makes only faint sound- only get this for make believe singing
Hardly has any sound just like a make believe microphone. Can hear a little echo when you have your mouth directly on top of the microphone but it is faint and you can't understand the words when you are that close. Loud noise comes from pressing the buttons on the bottom with pre-recorded baby songs- which when pressed override the faint echo from the "mic." Otherwise it would be nice- the mic slides up and down and adjusts for height, you can remove the mic from the base and and you can plug in your ipod etc. But none of these features matter if it doesn't do the job of acting like a mic. Am returning and getting a more expensive grown up mic for my son since he wants to actually use it to sing into for real, not make believe.

The boys love using it to make announcements and just hear their ...
Gave to my son for his 4th birthday a few days ago. Works as described and plays music from our iPad. Although the volume would not be very loud for singing with the accompanying music, it is (almost too) loud on its own. The boys love using it to make announcements and just hear their voices amplified. A good product for the money.

barely transmits voice, does NOT amplify your voice
My 5 year old saved up his allowance to buy this microphone and was so disappointed - we are returning it. The only way to hear your voice transmitted, is to hold your ear an inch away from the speaker and strain to hear it above the actual speaking volume of the person holding the mic. There is no amplification. If music is on, it's impossible to hear. The volume of the built in songs are fine, albeit annoying to me (kids like it), and several of the songs aren't ones you can sing along to (like the entertainer) which seems like a poor choice. pluggin in an iPod worked, though the speaker volume/quality wasn't really an improvement over the iPod's built in speaker.

My Kids Like It!
This microphone is cute. My daughter loves to play with it. During Play dates it is always a contested item. However, with as much as I paid for it, I expected more. It took a long time to arrive - over a week. The microphone and music does not get very loud (which I suppose could be a blessing in disguise). However, I would like to have the option to turn the music / microphone up loud enough to be heard. Honestly, the music is that soft. If there is any other noise going on you simply can't hear it. I've just been playing the music from my phones speaker directly and having her sing into the microphone. So, its ok - but it's not being used the way that it was intended to be used. It is fairly sturdy. It's held up through multiple "jam" sessions with several toddlers just fine. It's been drug up and down the stairs but little kids and just keeps on going. Overall it's a good toy that my kids like. I just wish it would have worked as advertised.

Love this toy mic
I LOVE THIS MIC! So i got this microphone because my 3 year old loves all things music related. However the whole family has actually played with this toy mic LOL! Its so cute & i love the fact that you can attach your smart phone or ipod to it to play music while you sing. The best thing is it doesn't plug into a the wall...you just add batteries. The mic stand adjust up & down as needed & it has volume control as well. I would highly recommend this toy mic, im glad i got it for my son its really easy to use & it also has auto shut off after about 5-10 minutes of inactivity!

Not working as it should from day 1 - same feedback from other customers too!
The color, the height are all good for 2-4 year old. But the microphone did not work. The speaker was not picking up whatever was spoken over microphone. If the music switch is on, then we could hear the voice in the mike. Also, kid had to speak in the mike, with almost lips touching the mike, for the voice to be heard.

Very cool but has a downside
Got this for my son for christmas and he really loves it! The ability to adjust the height is a nice feature for when he wants to sit or stand. The downside to this for me is that you have to have your lips touching the microphone to have the sound go through it. Meaning, you cant hold your mouth a few inches away and get it to work. Why is this a downside? Because when my son has friends over and they are playing with it, they are all putting their mouths right on the microphone to make it work! For that reason, I knock a star off. Otherwise, this is a neat little microphone for young children.
