Hesitant To Go LED But Am Glad I Did - Great TV!
Greetings,I purchased the LG 55LB7200 about a month ago I had been looking for a TV for well over a year and I could not decide on plasma vs LED, neither of which would, in my mind, be an improvement over my Mitsubishi DLP. Long story short, the DLP finally gave up the ghost after 8 years and so I had to make a decision. Long story short, I picked up the 55LB7200 and I am very glad that I did!Getting the TV up and running was a breeze. Everything from setting up Wi-fi to color calibration was straight forward and easy. I do wish a paper manual was provided, but that is a nit. The user manual found on the TV works just great, but I like having paper in hand.On a related note, the magic remote works as advertised except I can't get voice command to work. I haven't put much effort into it though and frankly I really don't need voice commands. This is another place where a paper manual would be nice listing out all the commands you can say. I purchased a new soundbar with the TV, the Klipsch R10-B. To my ears it is one of the best soundbars available. I used the Klipsch instructions to pair the magic remote's volume up and down buttons with the soundbar and it worked. However, I could not get the mute button / command to work.I have a Sony Blu-Ray player, XBox 360 along with a Cisco Conteur cable box for Cox cable. All connected easily and the only command I can't get to work with any of the devices is the eject button on the Blu-Ray. Since I have to insert and remove disks physically it's no big deal to hit the eject button on the Blu-Ray player.Other magic remote issues I've found are that when using the scroll wheel to page up/down in the TV guide, if I land on a show I want to watch pressing the scroll wheel doesn't work. I have to move one channel up/down then go back to the channel I want and then it will work. Also, when fast forwarding a recorded show if you don't keep the remote active by moving it a bit the remote will disappear. It has to be active to stop fast forwarding and so you have to shake it and then hit the play button. Usually this means you have forwarded too far and you have to rewind a bit. All these remote things are very small issues and they don't bother me. I'm including them in case they prove to be useful for someone else. Now to the important stuff! The PictureI went through the picture calibration tool in the TV's setup and the result was very good for me. I was going to buy the Disney calibration DVD but I won't because the calibration tool did such a good job. This might not be true for everyone as other rooms will have different types of lighting, light positioning, etc. For me it worked out great. I use the standard picture mode all of the time. I've played with the other picture modes, but I don't see any reason to switch to them. There is some screen glare because I have two wall decorations with subtle lighting and I can see them faintly on the screen. The only time I notice the lights are if the screen is dark and mostly a solid color, like during film credits. Otherwise you can't see it or I ignore it. If you are bothered with lighting showing on your screen you have two choices: 1) Move the light source 2) Turn the lights off.I am very happy with the coloring, blacks and contrast of the TV. The picture looks fantastic. Some people have said they have backlight issues on the side or even across the top of their LG. I've not noticed any issues whatsoever and I was looking for them because some of the reviews here on Amazon really made me paranoid about it. :) I've also not experienced the issue people have when large solid colors like the green for a football field are on screen and fast panning occurs. Again, I've not experienced this at all. I am a football (soccer football) fan and I watch one or two games every week. The field looks fantastic and I have nothing to complain about. There are times when a bit, just a bit of motion blur happens. I don't remember what I was watching, but it was fast moving with panning. A bit of blur occurred, but not much. This was my biggest issue with going with an LED and I can happily say it isn't an issue. Last of all, I'm not a big 3D fan, but I did watch a Spiderman movie just to see how the TV would perform. Again, everything looked great! I don't get what all the hype around 3D is, but if I do start liking it I know I have a TV that will provide a good 3D experience.GamingAnother reason I was hesitant about LED TVs was gaming. Motion blur and controller latency could easily ruin the gaming experience. I play FIFA soccer, Madden football and an RPG called Skyrim. I have my 360 hooked up to HDMI3. When I switch to that port it shows that it is running at 60 Hz, just what a gamer wants. I don't know if that is the default speed for that port or if the LG knew to change it automatically. The good news is all the games look terrific and latency is not an issue for me at all. Fast controller latency is especially needed for FIFA and everything worked fine right from the get-go.SoundI've yet to use the TV speakers, I set up the TV to use the optical out to my Klipsch speakers from the start. It works, not much more to say!AppsI've used NetFlix, Amazon Prime Videos, Hulu and the web browser thus far. The apps all work at an acceptable speed and work as expected. The TV saw my Windows 7 computer and could display pictures and play music and videos right away without any issues.ConclusionNeedless to say, I am very happy with the LG. What things I listed above that are small issues are not enough to pull my rating to four stars. Hopefully I don't come off to strong in my review, I was trying to keep everything as `real' as possible. It just so happens I am very happy with the TV. I expect to enjoy the TV for several years!

TV is amazing in every way.
Love everything about this TV.1. The TV itself is a beautiful piece of furniture and is an awesome centerpiece in my living room. They knocked it out of the park with the minimalist look. With a near-frameless design, the glass goes to three edges, with only a thin bezel on the bottom edge of the TV. Even the legs look great--some other TVs look too alien-spaceship-like. The beauty of this TV is that it doesn't look too gaudy/showy like some electronics tend to be.2. Set-up was easy enough to handle by myself single-handedly. The TV itself is super-thin and really light for its size. The legs look great and are more stable than I thought they'd be.3. Although I've attached this to a 5.1 surround sound system, the built-in speaker system on this thing is pretty great. Super-thin TVs like this usually have anemic-sounding speakers, but not on this. The built-in speakers sound crisp and clear, and even have a decent bass. Of course, getting extra audio equipment such as a soundbar, or surround speakers, and a subwoofer would improve the audio experience, but you could get away with using the TV speakers by themselves. Honestly, if you're buying a high-end TV, you really should get extra audio equipment anyway to get a better home theater experience.4. I'm not exaggerating by saying the picture quality is stunning. STUNNING. Parents, friends, and visitors who have seen this thing in action are blown away by the clarity, sharpness, and beautifully rendered colors. They had not realized that HD could be so clear and sharp. It's almost disconcertingly too sharp, especially with how smooth the movements are. This is also known as the "soap opera effect," but hey, this how HD is supposed to be! Once you get used to it, you can't live without it, and everything else looks grainy and inferior.5. We watched Pixar's "Up" in 3D; we were freaking out and dodging balloons. "Pacific Rim" in 3D was pretty stellar. "Nitro Circus 3D" can be watched through Netflix--stunts and action in 3D is outta control.6. This TV comes with 1 year of free Netflix, therefore helping reduce its net cost. Hooray! Check the LG website for details.7. The Smart TV interface utilizes WebOS, and it's the best Smart TV interface I've yet encountered. I was surprised and impressed that you can open several apps all at once, and switching between open apps AND video inputs is a breeze. Each active app/input displays a little miniature window, offering an easy glance at what's going on. There aren't many apps available yet, but I'm content with the current offerings (Netflix, Youtube, Amazon, Vudu, etc). The Smart features/apps also run pretty darned fast. Temper your expectations though--this is not a tablet, smartphone, nor laptop. It is a TV first and foremost, but I'm definitely impressed with the speed and ease-of-use of WebOS.8. My only complaint is that this TV set only came with two pairs of 3D glasses--not enough for movie night with friends and family. I'd have been happier if it had four. This is too small a shortfall for me to dock points off its score, but other potential buyers should take note. (This is my second LG 3D TV, so I have six total 3D glasses: plenty for movie night!)Even if you're not interested in the Smart TV or 3D features, this TV is excellent just by itself because those features necessitate a well-built panel. I use this TV for regular TV viewing and blu-ray watching 99% of the time, and I'm extremely satisfied. This is my 3rd LG TV, and I've become a huge fan and loyal customer. The LG 55LB7200 hits the elusive mark of good value and high quality. I could not be happier with this purchase.

Do not buy ANY LG Smart TV unless you like being spied on.
I have decided to write a review for this TV as the one star rating deserves some explanation. I have no complaints about the functionality of the TV itsself, The picture is crisp, low input lag for gaming, and the 3d works well. The main issue I have with this "Smart" TV is something that they do not include in the product description or in any advertisement I have read. The quick and dirty of it is if you want to utilize the smart functions of the TV you have to agree to be spied upon. This is done in the form of a user agreement that states in order to use the smart functions of the TV, (I.E using the Netflix app,) that you have to agree to allow your TV to report to LG what you are watching and doing. Again this is NOT in the product description, and I certainly would not have purchased this product if I knew this was the case. I called customer support to see if there was a workaround,(there isn't suprise suprise) and so ended up making a complaint about it. I highly doubt they will change their policy of essentially forcing the customer to agree to be spied upon just to use a product THAT THEY PAID OVER 1000 dollars for. I will continue to use this TV with a Roku, however that is 70 bucks extra that I should not have to spend.I honestly feel that this is criminal and that the company needs to push out a firmware update that makes it so you don't have to agree to have anything reported in order to use the software that good money was paid for. This review will remain a one until this is addressed.
