The AA battery operates the clock, the dc power source operates the colors that you can use if you purchase the clock that has the color change.... plus you will need a CR2025 battery to operate the remote.

Q: Is this music wall clock durable? Will it break easily?

Well it’s made of vinyl from a record, in that sense it’s fragile. But I’ve given a couple of various designs as gifts and it’s been durable for the recipients because they are taking care of the item. It’s delicate to handle, but is well made and the detail is pretty great.
