Fun for many!
Supernatural and bizarre cases to solve! If you're a fan of the game system, the Lovecraft Mythos, or just an interesting way to spend two hours with friends, this game is for you!

Great fun, lasts a long time!
My wife picked this one up and we really enjoyed it. Lightly creepy plot lines and lots of fun speculation. We’d love for a sequel to come out. We played lovecraftian-type music in the background which really enhanced gameplay. Each game took us several hours, and the box has five games. Definitely worth it; highly recommended!

Better luck next time.
Not my cup of tea. Was hoping for a more logical puzzel or escape room type experience. The game does not play well for our family and really hoped for a better investigative experience. Only played the first case story and left with no desire to continue playing anymore. Others may see a more enjoyable or logical game but I did not.

First Two Cases were Awesome, then it Kind of Falls Apaet
Man, I really wish they would have stuck with the format of the first two missions. Them trying all the experimental stuff (especially case 5) was just a bit off-putting. You have this wonderful, rich map and you only use each side once? Seems like a waste.

I like this deduction, mystery game a lot of fun
Overview: As agents working for the Bureau of Investigation, you’re tasked investigating paranormal cases using the Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective system (interviews, following leads, eliminating red herring clues, etc.) Players: 1-8 Players Playtime: 90-120 Mins; I didn't find it took as long as the publisher has stated on this product page...but...there is a lot of reading and the 'solution' isn't a QUICK FIX, especially if you're looking to get the most points possible. Ages: 14+ + I prefer the Cthulhu/Lovecraftian theme over the Sherlock Holmes theme. + There are 5 cases in the book, which should give you and your friends/family nearly 10hrs of play. > Replayability is limited to re-doing a case in an attempt to get a higher score as you follow up other leads. But...I'd recommend a few months break so you don't remember all the details before trying a particular case again. > When you come to a location you can either (not both) perform interviews OR investigate (different kinds of actions that doesn't involve talking to characters at the location). The challenge here, which can send you down a red herring trail is you have no idea if it's 'better' to interview or investigate. Flip a coin and maybe even write this in your notes, so next time you play that case you case (or even return to the location) you can choose to do the other option. NOTE: Come prepared to takes notes! You'll need your collection of leads/clues as there may be too many to track mentally, so write it down. + I do like there are levels of difficulty depending on which case you pick. + The tabs in the casebook make for quicker location of what you're looking for, which the Sherlock game doesn't have. OVERALL: I find this game more streamlined than the original reprint of Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective. Which means I'm not losing a half-day to play through an entire case, but can finish a case in a couple of hours max and get to completely different game experience in a single evening (I'm loving Zombicide Invader for another co-op action, with little to no reading, and Dune: Imperium for a competitive deck-building/worker placement experience).

Well designed game offers a challenge
I was drawn to this game because it allows as few as 1 player and that's hard to find. I intended to play it to help stimulate my mind as an older person. However, my grandson ended up playing with me and it was probably a lot more fun this way. We both enjoyed the challenge. Neither of us had played Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, as referenced, so we can't compare it to that as others have done. We don't feel that we missed out on anything. The booklets and papers are well printed on heavier stock paper so they feel durable for playing over and over again. The challenge was sufficient, without giving any details away. It took over 3 hours to complete. I knew I would enjoy the game but my grandson was initially hesitant. He really seemed to enjoy it. There are no game pieces, just printed materials. The hefty box helps keep them in perfect condition. I'll probably play again alone at some point. But this is probably a game where it's more fun with a group.

Really really good game! It can provide hours of fun. The concept is great, the investigations can be hard, it is important to record the details while progressing. Perfect for two people but I can see the appealing with a bigger group as well.

After playing one game from the Sherlock Holmes: Consulting Detective series, I was so hooked that I couldn’t resist buying The Thames Murders & Other Cases. I’m happy to say it did not disappoint at all. The cases are immersive, clever, and extremely entertaining. Playing as a couple, we found ourselves fully absorbed, discussing clues and theories for hours. If you enjoy deep narrative mysteries, this game is absolutely worth it.
