Great Humidifier
Function: Our space is 1200 square feet, and we have this in our great room with high ceilings. Our previous humidifier was rated for 500 square feet, and barely kept our apartment at 27% humidity at 68 F. It also took 24 - 48 hours to raise the humidity a percentage or two. This one raised the humidity from 10% in about 8 hours, it's kept the humidity about 30 - 32% since, in the middle of winter with our heater running full blast. Many places recommend 40 - 50% humidity, but I notice a real difference around 30%. 5/5Water Refill: My unit is on a floor that isn't even, so one tank empties first. The tanks are 1 gallon each, and easy to pick up with a handle. I refill them in the bathtub. 5/5Cleaning: One thing I love is this unit is designed to be cleaned. The lid to the tanks is the entire bottom of the tank, which means the inside of the tanks are easy to reach and scrub out. The top of the unit with the fan lifts up out of the base, which makes cleaning the base easier (and everything is accessible to your scrub brush). 5/5I have read that wick-based humidifiers raise the humidity faster when the air is dryer, and slower when the air is already humid. This seems in line with my experience, and I don't really think it's too bad if it keeps things from getting too humid.Sound: This unit uses a fan to pull air in through a wick, which humidifies the room. The sound is similar to a box fan, which is a sound I find relaxing. There are also some "glug" sounds when air enters the tank. No points off for sound, but it's not silent, it might be better in a hallway outside your bedroom if you're sensitive to sound but want it nearby.Longevity: We've had the unit for over a month now, so no score here yet.Overall - I like the design, it looks nice, functions well, and was reasonably prices - so a win-win for us.

The bright light wont stop flashing wven when full.
Pros: Works great holds a steady humidity, tempted to get another one for another room.Cons: I keep it in my bedroom though and I am hyper sensitive to light making it harder for me to sleep as I cannot find a way to turn off the lights that emanate from the sides where the water jugs go in. also when the the jugs are more than 80%% full I would say; they start to do the "low water" flash which is annoying because I would not consider anything above "40%" full "low on water". easy work around I found is re-seating the Water jugs but that only temporarily stops it from flashing.*I came back to lower the rating. I cant sleep. its so annoying how bright is flashes. I always top off the water before bed in both of the jugs and it just keeps flashing. it does not care what-so-ever how much water is in the jugs, it will flash. you can re-seat to prevent it from flashing for maybe 5 mins, try and fall asleep in that time.*also FYI the water does not equally lower, one jug lowers before the other, making me think that this low water light is related to this flaw as it probably is measuring water level in both and if one is lower than the other the "total" amount of water is "low"*Tomorrow I'm going to prepare for a dissection of this machine and see if I can just cut the wires to the light, or figure out how to fix this defect. it must be a defect because no business in their right mind would pass and sell this with this bright of a flashing light that goes off at 90% full.*as I'm writing this its menacingly flashing at me, taunting me. "re-seat me dumb ape" I can imagine hearing it whispering in the corner with every bright flash in my dark room

Super easy. Clean. Quiet. Sleek looking.
After trying so many other humidifiers (10+ ultrasonic and 1 other brand of evaporative style) I purchased my first EVDC300 from Vornado.I did an embarrassing amount of researching and landed on changing all 3 humidifiers we have to evaporative style and the Vornado appeared to fit the bill. I purchased 1 to start and 1 other brand. The other brand had very inaccurate readings and a proprietary filter. They stopped manufacturing that filter which is why I ended up with the Vornado since the filter isn’t proprietary (a must!!)I’ve never experienced most of the issues some of the other reviews mention. I’ve never had it turn off when low. It’s never been loud. The readings are accurate when compared to the humidity reading from our thermostat. My only gripe is the light that’s always on. I’ve never seen the light flash, just always on. I shoved a piece of tissue in the spot to block the lights though and that resolved the problem. Although I did just decide to try out the Eco mode (it’s been on auto at 55% humidity) and that seems to have turned the light off. It’s so much easier to use than any other humidifier, and I’ve tried a ton. Cleaning it is a breeze and I’m much less concerned about breathing mold and bacteria, based on the test data I’ve been able to find.I find the size to be fine, it sits on our dresser and my kids night stands no problem. I have the 1 gallon. The 2 gallon would be quite large. But 1 gallon is just fine.It doesn’t interrupt my sleep. It’s quiet. The light issue is not an issue anymore so it doesn’t keep me awake. I have no complaints at all except maybe would like for it to be a top fill style. That would be nice to be able to dump water into it rather than lug it to my kitchen sink.
