Good Book to Help You to Recover Some Perspective
I am generally a pretty positive person but have been reading self help and positivity psychology books since the early 1990s, I have found them a great way of allowing me to gain control over my own life, but also to regain some perspective when things change.If you are suffering from depression, anxiety, or just occasional low moods, then this book could help. This type of book will not completely dispense with the need for professional help if you are in a really bad place, but can help you gain perspective and certainly can't hurt.The important thing to remember about negative thoughts I think, is that they are just thoughts, not usually reality, for the best amount of time we drive ourselves crazy with things that haven't yet happened, and probably won't.If you can catch yourself in the process of overthinking then it is a little easier sometimes to change your thoughts to something better. With thoughts, usually like attracts like, the more positive you feel, the more positive you will think, and vice versa, in fact it is your thoughts that control your emotions. Therefore, pay attention to your emotions, as they will act as a good guide to your current thoughts.Having read many similar books over the years, I can say with a degree of certainty, that the information in many isn't necessarily new, but you wouldn't necessarily expect it to be; it is just written in a different way. Some books will suit one reader more than another, and that is why it is good to have variety.So, you may have heard the information in this book before, but it is how it is written that is important. This is a relatively short and easy to read book, that organises the information into some simple steps that you can follow.These steps definitely can help you gain perspective, don't expect immediate miracles, but do remember, you will need to implement these steps to see any differences, reading the pages without making any changes won't help. Don't beat yourself up about it if you don't manage straight away, just keep at it.Remember, you are not alone, we are all the same, a mixture of two halves, even the most positive person will have days when they feel negative, and once you recognise that, it is easier to remember that just because you feel bad today, doesn't mean you have to tomorrow.Good luck and take care.
