LOL!!! Delightful! Heartfelt. Great characters and plot.
I LOVED this book so much that I read it in under 12 hours. Now I'm following the author.First, I laughed out loud so often throughout it - not just at phrases, conversations, and scenes, but also at everything in many of the stories.Second, the characters were wonderful. Olive, Birdie, Alex, Donna, the two Joans, Collin, Seth, the stewardress, Anders, Mrs. Rodriguez and many other characters were all realistic, believable, and different from each other. You'll care about many of them.Third, or maybe first or second, there were five (yes, 5!) stories of "Big, Sexy Love" of various types. They were all heartwarming and had beautiful endings. Not least, the themes of courage, communication, letting go, taking chances, the kindness of strangers, the dynamics of social media, and speaking truth give this story its power and depth.Last, the laughs, oh the laughs!Read it, you'll love it.

Just what I was needing in escape fiction.
This was just what I needed to escape from worry about what in the world is happening to the world and why the States are in such a state. This is like watching a zany romantic comedy, with LOL, sometimes implausible and ridiculous, situations, very appealing characters, and a storyline that has an underlying serious side to it.Our heroine, Olive Brewster, in her mid-20s, lives a very uneventful, careful, safe life, almost half a life. Dead-end job, living at home in Manchester, England, with her brother and his girlfriend, no boyfriend, no social life to speak of. She's content, but in reality the brightest light in her life is fun, wild and crazy American friend Birdie, who's been her bestie since they met at university. But Birdie is dying. And she asks Olive to hand-deliver a letter to her first love, the big one that got away. Trouble is this means a trip to NYC by Olive, who has never flown or even traveled by land more than a short distance from Manchester. And more trouble in that Birdie's "Big, Sexy Love" is off the grid, so it will take a bit of sleuthing to uncover him in New York. This is a comedy and a love story. Actually, there are two love stories: (1) The beautiful friendship/love between Olive and Birdie, and (2) TBA by reading this book. That #2 is for me to know and for you to have fun reading about. But this is also a story of personal growth and overcoming fears and learning to really live. The book is written in an easy-breezy manner. It's really funny in many sections. A bit silly in others. There are a few cringe-worthy moments, a la Bridget Jones, but mainly this is a delight to read. Not even Birdie's circumstances are made into a downer, although you will feel some sadness a few times in the read. Mostly this is a good escape read with laughs and some feels, written in a charming, funny way.

another perfectly crafted romcom
This is my second Kirsty Greenwood book, and it did not disappoint! Taking place in two locations close to my heart, I was immediately attached. A lot of laughs, somw romance, and a friendship we all hope to have. I highly recommend this book!

Great creative plotline for romantic comedy
I really tore through Big Sexy Love. The plot was imaginative and in the genre of rom-com that's hard to do. I loved all the unique quirky characters and the constant problems Olive had on her first trip to New York. I have begun to read all your books Kirsty. I like your writing style with lots of colorful conversations to tell the story.

Unrealistic story
Gave it a 3 since I managed to get through the whole book. It was a good story but like another person commented it was very unrealistic. From the character doing a whole personality change with in a couple of chapters, to having a skid about her make it to Saturday Night Live and being recognized by everyone in New York. I guess what I was looking for in an adult novel was for something to relate with, but this story is so fake that you can't.

Funny and cute
Fun characters and a story beyond a standard romance... I really enjoyed this. Laughed out loud more than once and chuckled a lot. Docked it one star because of typos and punctuation errors, which I don't understand because the acknowledgements list proofreaders and editors. Note to author (if you really do read all reviews): have an American help with dialogue of American characters. I believed Birdie picked up British phrases and words, but Anders and Seth said things no American would say. Took me out of the story. (tioli) In conclusion, I'll say 'well done and I look forward to reading more of your work.'

A funny and heart touching book about such kind of friendship we all wish to have
Kirsty Greenwood is one of my auto-buy authors. I love her humour, her quirkiness and fast-thinking in her writing. It's super fresh and always very enjoyable.I was a bit nervous going in this book. The synopsis of the book sounds very sad. I don't like overly sad stories, but I trust the author, and know that she will do her best to make me laugh. But even then I couldn't predict just how much I would love this story. The main character Olive likes the safe and quiet life, but when her best friend Birdie is dying and ask a last wish, Olive ventures out on an adventure to big, loud, busy New York to deliver a letter to Birdie's big sexy love. Their codeword for epic love. And what a journey it is! There are many people and obstacles she must go through to deliver this letter, and I was cry laughing with (OF) her.She is a huge inspiration, and I cheered her on her journey. Cried when she did, and swooned along with her. The hero in this book..... HOT!I think the storytelling is perfect, and would especially like to compliment the author for her sense of the details. Every chapter begin with either a list of Olive's websearch history, or a hashtag story covering a short side story. Both of which I really loved, and had me smiling.A funny and heart touching book about such kind of friendship we all wish to have.

Head over heels
Gosh I had such a hearty laugh from reading this book. Best laugh I've had in a long while. Couldn't put down the book until my eyes couldn't stay open (3am!) Olive is such a fun character I would love to be her friend LOL. Who wouldn't want to go on an adventure like her?! Thanks for the crazy laugh during this pandemic Kirsty!

One of those books I couldn’t put down but at the same time I wish I hadn’t finished it so quickly.
Every once in a while I get a facebook ad/sponsored post which makes me think I’ve gone wrong somewhere (I mean, denim bikini bottoms?!?) but sometimes, just sometimes, it shows me something wonderful - as was the case with Big Sexy Love. This is a book that will stick with me for a long time. It’s hilarious (laugh out loud funny), emotional (in an ‘I’m not crying, you’re crying’ way) and just an all round great read.It is definitely one of those books I couldn’t put it down but at the same time I wish I hadn’t finished it so quickly. It’s very easy to get sucked into this story as Olive is such a likeable character with her small, safe, slightly sad life. What we find out though, thanks to the bright light of Birdie and her mission, is that she is funny, kind, brave and a good friend. This is a big, chaotic story with great pace and a lot of likeable side characters. It would make a fantastic film or series. There are some truly cringeworthy moments where you want to look away and some wonderful heartwarming parts that make you want to hug the book.As the title suggests, it is about love but not just romantic love, it’s about all kinds, especially friendship. I loved the deeper meaning at the end (you’ll have to read it to find out). This book isn't new (I think it was first published in 2017) but it seems to be having a renaissance - maybe thanks to Facebook ads (and I didn't buy the denim bikini bottoms, just in case you're interested). It was my first book by Kirsty Greenwood but it won’t be the last.

Romantic COMEDY
There are tons of books described as romantic comedies, but many of them are really not that funny. Big Sexy Love, however, is hilarious through and through. Even the sad part is funny. I definitely recommend it! 😉
