Small and flat against the front of the ear. Perfect for me with a baby at home who loves to grab at whatever is nearby - so far he hasn't been able to tug at these.Only complaint is I was hoping for a bit more sparkle. Nice, sturdy. Need to pair them up with smaller earrings since they are medium size. One earrings got scratched already but sturdy still.
