While it is plastic, it looks exactly like the photo; the face shield can be raised or lowered, and it fits a full-size adult male. It should easily last for years and years - it's well made and doesn't feel cheap or like it will fall apart. It's comfortable enough to wear for a short time but works best carried as part of a complete Roman-style outfit. I bought this for my daughter to use for a school project, and she was very impressed. Certainly well worth the low price and far better than the fabric helmets. Review: I wear a size 7 1/2 hat and this helmet was extremely tight. It doesn’t help that I have quite a beak on the front of my face. Either way, the helmet is cool, turns heads, and helped me win first place in a gladiator costume contest.
